Bumble Bee 107
I've just read on P&O's facebook that Aurora will become an adult only ship from next year. I personally see this as a positive change and that they have listened to their customers after they announced the 2 huge ships that are joining the fleet. What does everyone else think? cruise addict 164
For me that is good news. We like the Aurora and are on her again in April. the large ships are more suitable for families with children. Bumble Bee and lynne pritchard
Gill57 15
I agree. For me this is great news. But i do feel sorry for families who now only have the option of one of the larger ships.
sinbad10 757
Sorry but having cruised on both Oriana and Arcadia(we loved the ship) in the past as a couple in our 50s we stopped cruising on adult only ships because we felt amongst they youngest and a very old demographic and music and entertainment directed at 70/80 yr olds we said we would never cruise again on an adult only ship with P&O. Also whenever you sat either having a meal or coffee they did nothing but constantly moan about "the good old days of P&O" and Canberra and it got very boring. cruise chef 865
It makes sense as the larger ships have more activities for the families but as sinbad has mentioned earlier this sometimes has the problem that it drives up the average age of guests. It is the age old thing every decision made has its pro's & con's
Countrygirl 233
I am pleased with this decision and Sinbad10 being in my 60’s I have always had great holidays on Arcadia, Oriana and Adonia. I agree some of the shows could do with updating but you don’t have to go and watch them.
GordoRFC 5
If true then its great news for those of us who want a more relaxed and tailored holiday, you dont have to be 'old' to want a chilled out peaceful, restful holiday, for some of us its the only time of the year we can switch off and unwind properly.....bring it on. Cheers G
Oldworldtraveller 2222
Is this because one of the current adult only ships is going!!! Just a personal thought. Captain Kidd II
Pesky Pirate 170
I think Aurora is a good choice for adult only. I believe we have lost Adonia which is not a bad thing, I wonder if Oriana is next.
Jenjen 232
We are booked on Aurora in December, and May 2019, We had an email, plus a letter. from P and O saying that after the refit in March Aurura would be adults only. Doing away with the kids club buildings I wonder what they will do maybe more cabins, I hope they don't spoil that pool area. Because its adult only doesn't mean you only get older passengers cruising these days attracts all ages, in my experience afcandrew, lynne pritchard and Tally

mitch 325
it will drive up the demographic thats for sure. arcadia in oct was like a floating old folks home at times lol. but its what you make of it and there was plenty of other spaces and things to do. afcandrew, *Dancing Queen*, Oldworldtraveller and 1 other

Appreciate that Ahoy, I just wondered if another of the 'Adult Only' might be going bearing in mind Adonia was only back for a matter of months and neither Oriana or Arcadia usually sail with a full compliment. I have just checked all cruises for Oriana and Arcadia in March, April, May and June and there is availability in all cabin grades so why would they want to make another of their ships 'Adult Only'. Of course, only my personal opinion. Edited February 23, 2018 by Oldworldtraveller

Stu2863860 5
Excellent news. I certainly will not be going on the two new ships as great as they will be. Jenjen
rubbermoney 0
As long as the standards are high this is excellent news.
Tally 392
The Aurora is my favourite ship. The only time I remember children being a nuisance was on our very first cruise which was on the Aurora and was during the Easter holidays. From a personal point of view I'm pleased it's going adult only.

Geoff Davies 8
Different stroks for different folks, done both and prefer adult only. got youngters and grand kids at home don't need them on holiday. Been on ships that have not been adult only and have been disappointed, never had the problem you stated, best look for better company [the 70/80 at least like to talk and don't spend ignorant time on pads and phones]. 2torts
Beth 3
Excellent news, the only downside is that some of the larger ships have better, because they are newer, facilities. Perhaps P & O and other cruise lines could take this on board. (Apologies for the pun, definitely intended.) Geoff Davies

Sorry but if they just sit and constantly moan and keep on about "the good old days" and how good Canberra was forgetting that many cabins were not en suite and you used shared toilets down the corridor then I wish they would keep quiet and use ipads and phones. How true sinbad10. People seem to forget the days of shared bathrooms, bunk beds, precious little entertainment and un-stabilised ships. HLM
The Drunken Sailor 9
As Oriana is due extensive (possibly expensive) mechanical refurbishment and repairs, is Aurora her replacement? Is Oriana going the way of Adonia?
