mitch 325
ok i accept i am now guilty of exactly what is rapidly ruining a perfectly good cruise. i am on the arcadia 24 nights to/from southampton to the carribeaan. paid £3k just over for an inside cabin at the bottom of the ship but its fine. the cruise so far 3 days at sea, fairly calm pleasant weather all is good with the world plentiful and good food and drink no complaints then you would think. omg the one thing that is driving me to the brink is the constant and i mean CONSTANT whinging of other passengers. "standards arent what they used to be" "wasnt like this when noah was in charge." "my egg was 2 degrees colder than yesterday" "ive cruised 2 zillion times with p&o i want an upgrade i dont care if your full." "the bed was folded down 2 degrees off centre" "smokers shouldnt smoke in the smoking areas i want to sit on that side of the deck move the entire smoking area" "why should i pay for that, in the 50's that was free" "i know the captain i want (inset your own demand)." ive seen the comments on here about "p&o moaners" but my god theyre worse in real life. honestly i would really not reccomend a P&O cruise to anyone not because of the company or the ship or anything to do with the product. the customers are a nightmare. Countrygirl 237
It's not just P&O, I have found it with life in general, people just have to moan. It's about time we started to look at what we have got not what we haven't got. My cup is half full!!! Jsk, Furby, B&M and 2 others
Jenjen 232
Poor you, BUT you can play them at there own game, it can be fun. half the time it's them trying to look worldly, and experienced cruisers, tell them you got 5grand OBC, you have done so many world cruises, etc etc. Half of them don't know what they are talking about anyway, the smoking issue is always draws the moaners and the best way to deal with them is to ignore, also I think sea days brings the moaner out in force it's there sport. have a nice time, and don't let other people dampen your fire work B&M, Popsicle, *Dancing Queen* and 1 other
sammy sun 1084
It's infuriating and can often be a real deterrent for cruising. We've all had issues when we've been on holiday and many of us have experienced nightmare situations but so many people these days moan over minor things and spiral them out of control. It's a shame that such passengers ruin it for others. I'm all for complaining and criticising when it's necessary but not when it's small concerns such as the examples you mentioned mitch. Of course, it's all relative and one persons nothing is another persons everything so it is all down to perception but it does gripe me a lot so I do feel for you. I hope that the complainers quieten down for you and you manage to enjoy your time on board. B&M

Land Ahoy 797
Hi I don't moan about P&O cruises after many enjoyable vacations with this company. I no longer consider booking a cruise with this company. It's a personal decision and many have different views (each to their own) but I believe that there are many cruise lines offering a better cruise experience for a similar boarding fare. That's the difference though Land Ahoy. I can completely respect and appreciate your point of view. You've found alternative cruise lines that you prefer whereas many people haven't, they simply continue to book P&O only to go on board and complain about every little detail. If they feel that strongly about it, there's so many different cruise lines to try, go out there and do it. I'll never understand that way of thinking so I completely understand where you're coming from. B&M, *Dancing Queen*, Captain Kidd II and 1 other

I feel exactly the same Land Ahoy, we no longer cruise with P&O but I would 'never say never again' as like you we have had some very enjoyable cruises with them, I agree there is better out there but they all have their share of the moaners !!! Jenjen 232
I just had to post this, I was telling my friend about poor Mitch and the moaners, she told me this story. They were on a cruise, and her husband got so fed up with complaints, he told a group he could not complain, because he had just got of prison he. Had served a sentence for GBH he had hit a man who had moaned about service, food ship, and the cruise line, that he had lost his temper, because he and his wife had saved for years to go on this cruise and that it was spoiled for him, he then walked off. My friends husband is in the legal profession of cause not true, But nobody ,moaned in his hearing again. It think that's priceless, made me laugh anyway Davybe, Popsicle, Nick and 2 others 4
Tally 392
We've only ever cruised with P&O. Our last cruise with them was going to be just that. We are on Cunard next year for the experience not the itinerary if I'm honest. I've been enticed back to P&O because of a cruise with a good itinerary. The destinations are for us the most important part of our cruise. If there was a better company doing really good itineraries to and from Southampton I would happily jump ship. So for some of us it's cruise with P&O regardless of moaners or the falling standards or don't cruise. B&M and *Dancing Queen*
mitch 325
fortunately the ship is big enough to find escapes usually the smoking areas or casino lol. i knew the bad habits would come in handy. lol. i am here to enjoy myself and i will i just posted this as within minutes of getting on board they started and i had this flashback to these forums about the p&o moaners and thought my god its true lol. although i must admit i havent been asked to compare prices yet but i suppose theres 20 odd days to go lol. *Dancing Queen* and Popsicle
sinbad10 757
It is one of the reasons why we dont primarily cruise with P&O anymore got fed up of everywhere we sat whether it be for a coffee, lunch in buffet or at dinner we got constant moaning about P&O. We switched to Princess and find Americans much more enjoyable conversation and going on their cruises with the intention of having a good time. The final straw for us was on first sea day on Britannia maiden voyage while sitting in atrium mid morning having a coffee when 2 elderly ladies asked if they could join us and when waiter asked if they wanted a drink they told him no as its free in buffet and you have to pay down here. They then asked us what complaints had we got about Britannia and then proceeded to get a sheet of paper out of her handbag and unrolled and got a pen at the ready. I said nothing as its only the morning of the first sea day and as yet we were very happy with the ship. At this point they shrugged their shoulders put the paper and pen away and got up and walked off. SBCruiser, B&M, *Dancing Queen* and 1 other
Davybe 529
Arcadia does seem to attract the moaners' My Sister in law was thinking of having a teeshirt printed with"This is a no moan Zone" ? The moaners have often booked another cruise on the ship they are moaning about. Best moan I heard was a Women complaining "There are to many Northerners on this ship for my Liking" When RCI first sailed from Soton we were on the second cruise and one man was writing complaints down from other passengers he had a page full off them, we sat near him and after listening for a few minutes my wife came up with"You are ruining your own holiday by all the moaning" the man's wife was nodding in agreement ,He later tried to organise a meeting of the passengers, lord knows how many turned up?...Nowt so queer as folk?....Davybe B&M and *Dancing Queen*
Countrygirl 237
All ships should have a special office where complaints could be heard, it should be on an outside deck. When they step inside the next thing they find is open sea, that is where they belong. Why are the moaners regular cruisers, I just don't understand it, IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT GO. Oldworldtraveller 2225
The amazing thing is, these are the people who when back home tell everyone that P&O is the best cruise line and that they wouldn't sail with anyone else. You couldn't make it up. *Dancing Queen*, sammy sun, Davybe and 2 others
cruise chef 866
Thanks for this Mitch and as you can see from other forum members you are not alone in thinking why do these people ever set foot outside the house( probably so they have something to complain about) Davybe, *Dancing Queen* and Countrygirl
sammy sun 1084
It's a great opening post and mitch has actually managed to achieve something quite unique. A topic has been started on P&O where we're all in agreement unheard of! Jokes aside, it is a very frustrating aspect of cruising with P&O and has only gotten worse over the past few years. OWT is spot on that the people who always complain are the people who sing the praises of P&O upon their return and won't cruise with anyone else. If you're unhappy with something, you don't keep doing it so why continue with P&O if you no longer enjoy the experience. Look elsewhere and leave the people that do like P&O to actually enjoy their holiday without an ear full every five minutes over every perceived negativity on board. Oh I can believe that many years ago we were disembarking the ship in St Lucia I think .. as we got off people were coming back on and one woman said to us ' I wouldn't bother if I were you the place is full of black people' ( I hope that is a PC term as it is not said to offend ) I'm not quite sure what she was expecting !!
