Kinex22 0
We are cruising with P&O and one of the ports will be Le Harve. Is the port nice enough to have a walk around independently straight from the cruise ship?
Jenjen 232
You don't say when you are going, if the weather nice turning left out side the port gates you can walk to a lovely beach, but it is quite a walk into the town, you would turn right from the port gate, the bus does two stops one to the town second stop is about let shopping mall, I have not done this stop, but been on the bus for the pick up. In cold weather not sure
Kinex22 0
I'm going at the beginning of October so the bus into town sounds like a good option. Thank you for your help.
cruise chef 865
Everything tends to be on the opposite side of the harbour from where the ships dock so the bus is a good option
iknowlescourier 207
Head for the tall concrete tower. That is a church. Doesn't look that impressive from the outside, but inside is different story. Amazing.
sinbad10 757
Not one of the best ports of call we always stay on the ship when we have called there and had a relaxing day. If you must get off the ship think best option is an excursion.
kellyohara 30
We stayed on the ship when we went as heard it wasnt great but another couple we know decided to get off and go to a shopping centre which they said was ok for a walk around.

Yes there is a shopping centre but nothing special we went there on our first visit to Le Havre and been numerous time since and that is why we stay onboard.
smtcan 274
We have rented a car in Le Havre and driven to Honfleur and some of the seaside resorts. On one cruise we had an overnight stay and we spent a long day driving around the Normandy Beaches. A single day would be a bit tight for that though. We found the car hire right on the dock, although we did pre book online.
Kinex22 0
Thank you everyone for your help and advice. We have decided to book an excursion to Honfleur after weighing up all the options.
