Susan Perkins 0
Hi Never a question we have been asked, or would ask!
Spadger44 11
I agree, one shouldn't compare the price paid by other passengers. A bargain is only when both buyer and seller are satisfied with the deal: just leave it at that. B&M
Mermaid Mutterings 1
It is extremely rude to ask how much your fare was.... regarding a quote above regarding what do you do for a living: I knew someone who was an undertaker and he always replied: "I am into packaging" A greata reply and kept everyone guessing. micradot 21
I agree. Just enjoy the cruise and don't worry about what other people have paid. B&M
STC 5
Why not just reply with... "Can't remember; it's so long ago since we booked it!" Or, if you really want to wind them up... "We originally booked an inside cabin, but then 4 days before sailing, we were up-graded to a balcony!!!" B&M and Bumble Bee
cruise addict 164
Tell them your only paid a small amount for the cruise in an inside cabin but were upgraded to a balcony cabin at no extra cost. That should shut them up. Also mention you got a lot of on board credit!! B&M
in the sky with diamonds 27
I will never understand why people feel the need to discuss how much you paid!!!!! Just enjoy your holiday B&M
cruise chef 866
I always give the same answer 'more than I wanted but less than I expected' they really dont have an answer to that!!!! B&M
bac 7
As I Understand it there are so many grades of cabins with their various prices, changes of price dependant on how near to sailing date it is, T.A. differences , loyalty bonuses, etc.etc. so comparison is very difficult. What I pay is my business and dependant upon the deal I can get. I just don't care I'm Happy with what I've got otherwise I wouldn't be on that cruise. An excellent answer👍
mundac 1
I have never been asked this question Yet! And would hate it if somebody did. What a way to spoil a holiday for someone by bragging about your "cheap deal". I cannot book late as my husband is disabled, so we need an accessible cabin, which as there are so few on the ships, I need to book early. I do work with someone who is always bragging about the cheap deals they get, which I find depressing and tedious. We find booking early gives us a lot of time to look forward to our cruises. Sometimes I think that booking late does not always mean 'cheap' as sometimes the price goes up and benefits drop. Also you the only cabins left may be in naff parts of the ship. Nick 30
We were on the Eclipse a few years ago and the lady in the cabin next door to us popped her head over our balcony asking what we paid for our cruise. "hope you dont mind me asking dear but what did you pay for this cabin? " can't deny i was a bit shocked at the question over the balcony. We booked very early as wanted 3 cabins together as travelling with family and they had booked with just a few weeks to go and apparently their table at dinner had been discussing it the night before and they had paid the most out of the 8 couples. She said just wanted to know what we had paid. I told her and she was very unhappy as they had paid quite a lot more than us. It must have spoilt her holiday as everytime we saw her she would say she how she felt ripped off so she would have been better off not asking in the first place. There will always be someone who has got a better deal so dont ask is my opinion. Edited October 23, 2017 by Nick Mayway and Davybe
Jenjen 232
I take the view if the answer to your question will upset you, don't ask the question. I also think the question about what other people have paid is RUDE, so would go out of my way to give a silly answer that I know would pay them back for asking in the first place

We had a similar experience ,on the coach back from Eclipse one lady was really bothered about hearing that someone had paid a lot less then she had, We had heard the same rumour she had,All I could say was it was just a rumour , and you cannot believe the lies we hear? Someone will always claim to have bought it for less than you did....Davybe

garrypennington 5
Having returned to cruising over the last few years, I really don't know what is happening to prices of cruising. Of the last 4 cruises taken over the last 2 years, I cannot comprehend the incredible increase in prices. Are we having our trousers pulled down by the cruise lines? Example. Celebrity Reflection this May 2018 has increased by £997 per person, for an almost identical sailing, date and cabin category, and inclusive drinks package, in less than 18 months. A MASSIVE 59 % INCREASE !!!! Can this be healthy for the cruise industry? Can this be healthy for Bolsover and other cruise only specialists. I feel that customers past, present and future will be priced out and seek other forms for their holidays. After all, land hotels offer FAR more value for money at these inflated prices. We are certainly not likely to take a cruise at an increase of 59 % for an identical cruise, line, ship, cabin and offer. AND don't even get me started on the buy one get one half price con. It isn't a special discount, it's a special increase. Anyone else feel that we are getting ripped off? Anyone else voting with their feet?

That actually happened ,on a table this couple thought they had paid the least ,we paid the same as them ,one couple got the P&O staff discount ,and this other couple had the cruise paid for by their son as a retirement present....Davybe
Jenjen 232
I hate this how much did you pay topic, whatever you paid, somebody has paid less, and more, I think it should be in the T/C not to discuss it, Actually it used to be for staff discount Just my opinion

If you hate this topic why have you contributed to it 10 months after the last comment, until it was resurrected on 1st October?
towny44 229
I have never been asked this on any cruise, and I therefore wonder if it is as prevalent as suggested on cruise fora(ums). However it is somewhat irrelevant to us since we need an accessible cabin and need to book very early to secure one, so we could not benefit from any half price last minute offer that might temp us to gloat.
