Maureen Jones 0
Just returned from a cruise on Royal Princess and yes they do scan cruise cards, I think it's a good idea - a lot of people think it's ok to skip the safety drill - having been on a ship that did sink the more info you have the better. The Seven Seas 147
This member is currently on a cruise on board Britannia and had their cruise cards scanned at muster stations. Fully agree Maureen scanning cruise cards is a good, the more inforamtion you have the better. However, many do skip the safety drills despite them being put in place for our safety. Frankl 0
We are going on Britannia next month so will find out first hand
graphostar 10
I have just recently come off Ventura and everyone's cruise card was scanned as we went in to the muster station - it wasn't an issue at all. Makes perfect sense really from a safety point of view.
Falmouthgirl 195
I have just come off of the Azura and I didn't have my card scanned or at any lifeboat drill.CG
bac 7
Brilliant idea and so simple. Yes it can be a bit of a pain in the a... but when all is said and done a) you definitely know where to go b) you know that your life-jacket is ok c) it only takes a few minutes

"no shows" we're followed up but In hot weather, especially for older passengers, this was not pleasant. Cabin number is on life belt and we have had crew standing at entrance to lifeboat station check us off as we entered. That sounds just like a HAL Safety Muster to me? (No need for life-jackets at the muster itself), but a full role call underneath the designated Lifeboat, & possibly Saga as well? As we did exactly that again on Saga Ruby.(not sure about lifejackets or not after this time?) God Bless her!! Which only goes to prove, that every cruise line is different and hence, the need to attend, no matter how many times we might have cruised before! Peter. Warlegan 0
I will soon be embarking on my first cruise. I totally agree with the muster drill, but I will be most disappointed if the ship sails during the drill. The sail away is something I do not want to miss. Warlegan. Divemonster 7
Just back off Azura. No cruise card check on muster. There should be an intelligence test though. The number of people putting their life jackets on when told to to wait and those switching on the jacket lights was amazing.
Captain Kidd II 798
It looks as if this is beg trialled on some ships of the P&O fleet to see if it works. From comments it seems to ve welcome and so should become the norm for all. It is interesting that Brittannia is one of the ships and that her Captain is also removing passengers off the ship when neccessary. Watch out or you coukd get kicked iff for not attending the drill! Yes we where on Ventura in April and had to have our cruise cards scanned as we went into our assembly point. It all makes sense to do this. P & O do say they will get people that do not attend the drill before leaving port to attend another safety drill later.
