We've been on ships where passengers had to go on deck, stand under designated lifeboat then person in charge called out room number and one person had to say how many from that cabin were present.  "no shows" we're followed up but   In hot weather, especially for older passengers, this was not pleasant. Cabin number is on life belt and we have had crew standing at entrance to lifeboat station check us off  as we entered.

That sounds just like a HAL Safety Muster to me? (No need for life-jackets at the muster itself), but a full role call underneath the designated Lifeboat,

& possibly Saga as well? As we did exactly that again on Saga Ruby.(not sure about lifejackets or not after this time?) God Bless her!!

Which only goes to prove, that every cruise line is different and hence, the need to attend, no matter how many times we might have cruised before!

Peter.

It looks as if this is beg trialled on some ships of the P&O fleet to see if it works. From comments it seems to ve welcome and so should become the norm for all. It is interesting that Brittannia is one of the ships and that her Captain is also removing passengers off the ship when neccessary. Watch out or you coukd get kicked iff for not attending the drill!

Has anyone else heard P&O are going to introduce scanning of your cruise card to ensure you attend the lifeboat drill at the start of the cruise.

Yes we where on Ventura in April and had to have our cruise cards scanned as we went into our assembly point.  It all makes sense to do this.  P & O do say they will get people that do not attend the drill before leaving port to attend another safety drill later.
