Land Ahoy 797
Hi I do like the song Fairy Tale of New York by the Pogues and Kristy McCall, it isn't seasonally upbeat but it is a great tune. HLM and Davybe
DavidH 596
Hi Davybe, Hope this doesn't sound too highbrow but, I was brought up in a very musical family with strong Methodist Chapel associations and a father who was Principal Tenor at Sheffield Cathedral. In my teens, I played the organ at my local chapel and did a lot of choral singing. Not surprisingly, therefore, traditional carols are my favourite Christmas music. The pick of them, for me, is an ancient carol entitled "In Dulci Jubilo" by R L Pearsall. The composer based it on a melody he found in an old German book published in 1570 which referred to it, even then, as "a very ancient song for Christmas Eve". The arrangement I love was written for four voices by W J Westbrook. It makes my heart sing, as well as my voice. DavidH HALaP&O and Davybe
2torts 345
Frank Kellys version of the 12 days of Christmas always makes me laugh. My favourite carol is O Come All Ye Faithful as it reminds me of our carol concerts at school.

Tally 392
I do like most Christmas music including Christmas carols. I have a Christmas playlist on my i-pod which accompanies me as I do the housework. I particularly like Chris Rea's 'Driving home for Christmas'. That one always makes me feel Christmassy. cruise chef 866
I will also have to throw in a Golden Oldie and say Johnny Mathis 'When a child is born' but if I wanted a Christmas No.1 instead of the Cowell factor it would have to be 'Fairy tale of New York' Davybe
HLM 519
I also love Fairy tale of New York, however Little Drummer Boy with Crosby and Bowie has to be my all time favourite, brings back wonderful Christmas memories of my late grandad. cruise chef 866
It is great to see everyone's favourite tunes on this thread but if you has a choice which Christmas tunes should be banished to the dustbin?? I will start the ball rolling with this years Christmas attempt by Cliff Richard (even a rerun of Mistletoe & Wine would have been better.) Possible to see why some radio stations wont play them!
