Oldworldtraveller 2225
Be very careful when you accept an upgrade. I did it once with P&O and although we were on a higher deck it was under the gym and we suffered from the vibration of people on the running machines from 8am onwards. Also once you accept an upgrade there is no turning back. Remember that it is possible you are being upgraded to a grade where they were unable to sell that particular cabin for whatever reason. If sailing with P&O I stay with my selected cabin as I know what I am getting.
midhusband 4
Some good points there. Thankyou .
Panthersnotts 22
May not be where on the ship you would like to be....take care if on (A)deck can be very loud above you on sailaway and party nights...
cmorris 0
Hi - we were offered an upgrade on our cruise this summer for £75 per person - we had booked a deluxe balcony and were upgraded to a minisuite - fantastic - you are told the cabin number so you can check it out before you agree - checking what is above you is a good idea! chis55 7
We were upgraded on the Ventura this summer and the cabin we were given was the noisiest I have ever heard. We had an intermitent noise from the funnel all night every night. So I will never agree to an upgrade again.
Northern Star 166
Only upgrade ever with P & O was on a Getaway Fare recently and we were upgraded to the best balcony cabin we have ever had albeit up on A deck.
sue 67 0
Never been upgraded, my sister was and paid £300 extra for a mini suite with a butler she loved it. Also heard it doesn't always mean better.
ArcadiaJoan 0
We got a great deal last year on Arcadia, book a balcony cabin and get a mini-suite, which we thought was a great deal but 4 weeks before we sailed we were upgraded to a full suite complete with butler, wow. On a negative note though, there is no going back so we only book suites now, maybe there is method in P & O's upgrading system
Northern Star 166
Wow Arcadia Joan what a great deal you got ! It is great to hear that these upgrades really do happen for some people.
ArcadiaJoan 0
Yes Northern Star, we were delighted and it only took 29 P & O Cruises to achieve it! only hope it happens again.

Take care.Ron
seawitch 291
Never had a upgrade for free, when travelling as a family in a four berth we were offered two two berth cabins for an extra £300 the day before we sailed which was a good deal. Been cruising since 1976 how long before we qualify?

Been cruising since 1976 how long before we qualify? I Agree Seawitch I am really unsure how the upgrades work. After 18 cruises with P & O & always booking well in advance , we got our first upgrade on a Getaway last minute cruise this year. On Holland America I got a several category upgrade the first time I sailed with them.
Harvey 298
I've never had an upgrade and really - I don't particularly want one. I usually select my cabin when booking and am happy with my choice. I always make sure there are cabins above and below me thus avoiding any excessive noise. I think that is even more important than being midships. cheers Harvey annabella1
