harley1 152
nothing annoys me more than getting on your cruise talking to some lovely passengers for them to suddenly turn round and ask you the most personal of questions 'how much did you pay?'! I dont ask them how much they earn in a year so why do you want to know how much i do! i paid what i paid and i was happy with it. im on holiday and want to enjoy it not be shoved down my throat that someone got it cheaper or got some more on board spend! I find this only to be the British passengers as the americans and other nationalities dont seem to care and they are just oin there for a good time! come on Brits your giving us a bad name!!! linzi1907, Sailaway, Sandpiper and 7 others
Lady Penelope 1
Well said my dear! I just wish P&O stuck to their original price rather than becoming known for cheap cruises - it's ghastly! Jeffniffer
Popsicle 295
Isnt it irritating! A lot of it is utter nonsense too. In fact we once left a table (before pudding can you believe!!!) in the restaurant because of one awful woman going on and on and on about how cheap she had got it! angel 121
I agree. It's the most annoying topic of conversation. It makes me so angry. I would never ask anyone how much they paid for anything whether a cruise or something else. It is so rude !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sailaway
Tom Cruise 81
Have to agree with this thread. The British are unhealthily obsessed with money and this isn’t helped by the government and media constantly banging on about it. Everyday there is a different money related news story... house prices going up, house prices going down, in recession, out of recession. No wonder that’s all the UK talk about. You're on holiday, please give it a rest! Sailaway and joann
samfox01 53
I think if everyone just started to say if they got asked this question, im not going to comment as it gives off bad atmosphere! hopefully this will start a trend off and it will stop people asking this ridic!!! question!! in the sky with diamonds 27
I agree samfox01 why people feel the need to ask the question and create bad atmosphere is beyond me, just enjoy your holiday Sailaway and Sandpiper

ange 9
I agree, if you were happy with the price at the timne of booking, why would you want to know what anyone else has paid once you are on the ship. FLOPSY and Sailaway
curly_wurly 4
It used to be oneupmanship as to who paid more for their holiday, now it seems that everyone wants to have the cheapest price!
AFC04/03 156
Does this happen on the american cruise lines aswell or is it just us brits?
harley1 152
i can honestly say i have travelled on a few american ships and all other nationalities do not even think to ask you how much you paid! in my experience its just the brits! we were recently on an american ship with a few americans and they were brilliant they couldnt care less how much everyone paid they were just on there to have a good time! one guy was spending between 3 - 8k a day in the casino! it became a running joke such a down to earth bloke! David 50
I don't recall anyone asking me how much I paid but I would be very irritated. In fact I don't think I would even remember how much I paid. Once the cruise is booked and the money put aside I don't really care. Related to this are the people who constantly monitor the costs of a booked cruise and moan when the price goes down. They have got the deal that they wanted and presumably were happy when they booked it so that should be the end of it. It seems to be Americans who are particularly prone to this. manxman1964 2
I agree in principal that it is rude to ask how much people pay BUT and heres my point. Had i not have entered into said conversation i would not have found out about Bolsover cruse club and the benefits of booking with them which i have happily done every year since. So i guess being "rude" does have advantages. ron and Cruiseada
Diane Lowton 2
I have never been asked how much I paid for a cruise but I agree with twomagpies I wouldn't have remembered anyway once its paid for I'm not bothered how much it cost. !!!

Sandpiper 18
If someone starts off this conversation and mentions a "Cheap Price" paid......, our stock answer is "Really...... you had to pay that much".
