Matilda_1 79
I am currently researching this cruise line, they do seem great value if you appreciate how much is included in the price. I was pleasantly surprised to see the multitude of drinks included at mealtimes (champagne at breakfast no less), shore excursions and no extras for things like speciality dining etc - the even have free wifi! bonus. It seems they have the same size ships as Viking but around 30 or so passengers less from what i can gather? So obviously more space. I particularly like the twin balcony concept which i haven seen on any other river boat. Just need to research the single supplements if my good friend Mary can't commit... blondie

willow_12 77
I have seen a short film of AMA Waterways sailing the Mekong River - it looks amazing! The ships decor is so inkeeping with the area. I would like to also sail the Danube and visit places like Budapest and Vienna. blondie

shipahoy45 13
Sailed with AMA waterways in a few years ago, and it was superb. We sailed along the Mekong from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Min City. The boat was very clean and the staff superb
buddy 104
I really fancy a river cruise and have been helping some friends look into the possibility of one for their anniversary next year. I've only really heard of Viking River Cruises and that's because of their TV advertising. Are AMA any good? Can anyone recommend a particular river cruise for newcomers? I dont know if there is specific area to do first?? Land Ahoy

Hi I have done a few river cruises and it's very difficult to suggest a "best" cruise line, recommendations are based on personal preferences and what one likes another may be disappointed in and another important criteria is how much are you prepared to spend? If you wish to "live it up" Uniworld are very good, Viking are a mid range company and if you prefer a relatively cheap option (still initially more expensive than an ocean cruise) Riviera Travel do a good value product. buddy
