GiGi 105
Hi, We are looking at a P&O cruise and are toying with the coach transfers as we have been told that the ship will wait if there are hold ups but it will not wait for individual passengers. Does the coach go all over the place and take forever to get there or is it a straight run just picking up along the route? Thanks Gi Gi
ron 606
Eavesway coaches have main pick-up points from various area's of the UK so they do not go all over the place. I would imagine the ship would wait for a coach load of passenger's rather than the odd couple.
Shetlander 188
You can find the information about the P&O transfers here https://ask.pocruises.com/help/PO/before-you-sail/eavesway_pickup However these transfers are with Cruise Connect rather than Eavesway. BrianI 85
Eavesway pickup points, times and cost can be found here http://mobile.eaveswaytravel.com/index.asp Brian
Guest shilly3191
It all depends which coach company you use as P&O no longer use Eavesway for their "free" coach offer but Intercruises. Eavesway pick up en route and dont generally weave over the country but now that they have no longer a contract with P&O if the coach is delayed and late it is possible that the ship would sail without you. Intercruises there have been horror stories of feeder coaches going to different parts of the country to pick up the main coach and because they have no coaches themselves and tender out that the quality of the coach varies, but if you are delayed there is a chance that the ship will wait. DEEDIA 6
I think I might be correct in saying that these Coaches are not connected to the Cruise Lines, If you happened to miss your Ship you have no come backs its your insurance claim time.
GiGi 105
An advisor at BCC told us the ship would wait if the coach transfer was held up. The company named in the P&O brochure is called Cruise Connect if anyone has ever used them.

BrianI 85
Intercruises is a port services agency who operate in many parts of the world and are part of TUI Travel PLC. http://www.intercruises.com/mobile/index.php# They operate the cruise connection but do not actually own any coaches. They contract in coaches from various coach companies as required and therefore the coaches will be of variable standard. They have a contract with P&O to provide coach travel for anyone who qualifies for free travel and they are available for anyone else who wants to buy a ticket with them. Eavesway Travel used to have a contract with P&O but now operate coach travel to any cruise line. They have their own coaches of a very high standard. http://mobile.eaveswaytravel.com Brian ron

buggalugs 44
This is a brilliant service - very relaxing - no worries - no traffic problems to think about. You arrive at the port quite relaxed and ready for a brilliant cruise. Beats Parking hands down every tiime.

Everybodies situation is different we have only ever used the coach service once and that was with Eavesway and though couldnt fault Eavesway in any way would never use coach service again. We had to get a taxi which was difficult because it was school run time and then travel 20 miles to junction of motorway so they could come southbound and drop us off at the services. Then on our return to save the cost of being picked up on northbound services then travel north to junction then come down southbound we had to carry our suitcases over the bridge motorway and then through lorry park to access road at rear of service station. The time, mither and cost of taxis mean for me the best way is to travel how I want and never had any problems with parking at Southampton.
Shetlander 188
Why not travel down to Southampton the night before and have a really relaxing start to your cruise?
Guest shilly3191
Why not travel down to Southampton the night before and have a really relaxing start to your cruise? Thats what we always do now after having a very narrow call once when stuck on M42 when a fatal accident closed the motorway for hours and we nearly missed the ship. GiGi 105
Hi, Our first thought was to go down the day before as this what we always do when we travel (airport hotels). The thing is our trip is in February and we thought snow could be an issue and the coach would be a safer bet for getting there. We've got a while to make our minds up we're just not sure what to do for the best. Gi Gi

If the weather ends up being really bad you can always go down the day before by public transport and either way you've got plenty of time to make the ship.
PANDOLING 1
My wife and I have enjoyed cruising with P&O now for the last 7/8 years and one of the pleasures of our holidays was the wonderful coaching service provided by Eavesway. This year our holiday was ruined when we were faced with coach journeys provided by Intercruises. We live in Yorkshire and meet our coach at Bradford Interchange. This year we were met with a mini bus, normally the Eavesway luxury coach takes us all the way to Southampton, this year after helping to load our bags, we travelled the short 9 miles to Leeds where we had to change to a larger coach and again we had to unlaod our luggage and transfer it to the other coach. On our return journey, although we speedily disembarked and employed a porter to move all our 5 items of luggage to the coaching area, when we eventually found our coach it was full except for two seats. We also discovered that the coach was destined for Newcastle going via Leeds. My wife and I are now in our late 70s and the seats we had were the two next to the midway exit point ajacent to the toilet. There was a panel in front of us guarding the steep steps with no room whatsoever to stretch our legs. I suffer from leg cramps and the long journey to Leeds proved to be a nightmare. Matters got worse when we arrived at Leeds Coach and Bus Station, we then had to manhandle all our luggage a distance of some 200 yards to the waiting mini coach which would take us the final 9 miles back to Bradford. If we ever cruise again we shall always travel with Eavesway. This journey completely ruined our holiday and we will never travel with Intercruises again. There has obviously been a fall out between Eavesway and P&O and one can guess, knowing P&O, it would be over finances between the two companies. One final point or grumble. P&O were charging 50p per minute to use the onboard wifi, it is not surprising that you never saw anyone in the Computer room and the staff and passengers simply used the free wifi which was abundantly available in every port of call. ron
SWAINESCOTT 0
SWAINSCOTT - We have used Eavesway from Barnsley Yorkshire several times and found them excellent. BUT BEWARE - they do not service every ship nor do Intercruise. We are booked on Royal Princess 20th July - 12 night British Isle Cruise only to discover to-day that we have to drive the 250 miles each way but are somewhat disappointed that Bolsover did not tell us nor did the consultant know this when contacted - surely there should be some way to contact fellow travellers to join forces for a mini bus ??? when this happens. I can't see Royal Princess on the Eavesway website and you would think there would be loads of coaches for such a large ship. Have you phoned Eavesway and asked what is happening?Brian
farmersgirl 2
We have not had free coach transfers but last time went with Eavesway which were excellent from Cambridge. They pick up there at 9.30am having been on route from Norwich and we paid £90 each return. The coaches are clean and comfortable admittedly there are stairs. The driver courteous and stops for lunch/comfort stops. We arrived 2.30pm. On the return there were just 4 of us and we got home by 11am with the other couple taken onto Norwich. It could not have been financially viable but the driver said even if there had been just two of us we would have been taken home and implied that other companies would have said the coaches were full so as not to travel with so few passengers. Well they would say that wouldn't they. You will find both companies having little digs at each other. As P & O's official partner, and the coach travel being part of the offering included in the fare, I wonder what their position would be if they tried that on?
