Morning, it is good to see there is somebody out there. I agree I watch Britannia sail out on the “Solent Ship” live you tube site. Our cruise on Arcadia in November was cancelled last week, we were not surprised but still disappointed. It makes us wonder if the plan to sell the last two small ships Arcadia and Aurora.
We have now booked a cruise for September 2022 with Saga with the discount on offer it was a good deal, so worth a try.

It should go live on 17th May, that’s why it is not showing your Covid jabs at the moment ( but don’t hold your breath)

The joke was definitely meant more at P&O's expense, not yours. Lots of folk think that the name of the new ship is too close to both Aviva and Arriva. On another forum I use she has been nicknamed 'Our Vera'...

We have done about 10 cruises on Arcadia and have two booked one in November 2021 and one in April 2022 moved from this year, will we get to go in November? Who knows. Sorry but don’t like the big ships.  We went on Venture last year and won’t be going on her again.

It will be interesting in several ways. Firstly when the ship is more than 12 miles out it has left 'British' waters and is in 'International' waters and if it enters the waters of a different nation (Non UK) will this count as foreign travel. Secondly what if the ship docks in a foreign port even though no passengers are allowed to go ashore does this count as visiting a foreign jurisdiction to which the 'Traffic Light' system will apply. And thirdly as the ships are not UK registered could you be classed as going overseas when you step on them. I don't know the answers but it would be interesting to hear what others think, food for thought.

You are not alone.  Me too and I have seen the same said by a number of people on other cruise fora. Unfortunately, Carnival Corp has decided to take P&O down the 'pile it high, sell it cheap' path. As I said above, I have a cruise booked on Aurora next year but if they do sell her off before then, I doubt I will cruise with them again. I don't dislike Arcadia but wouldn't have any trust left at all with P&O as a company. It will cost me significantly more but I will move my custom to Fred Olsen who at least (currently) have 4 nice, smaller ships.

Well that will be the end of my P & O cruises.  We went on a 38 night cruise on Venture last  February ( oh those where the days) can’t say I was very impressed with her, much prefer Arcadia

When comparing Saga with other cruse lines you must remember what the Saga price includes,
insurance, drinks, excursions, no extra charges for using other dinning options and travel door to ship and return. Therefore sometimes the difference is not as big as you think.

Good idea, I think you should be issued a certificate on your second vaccine to prove you have had the vaccine, this is what happened years ago on receipt of the likes of smallpox, yellow fever jabs etc.
it could easily be signed off each year. I think that it might end up like the flu jab needing to be updated at least annually. Let’s face it with all the bugs you can catch on ships to insist on a vaccine jab, even if you have to pay for it which the flu jab only costs around a tenner, it’s worth it.

Well it will be Christmas soon, after a difficult year that none of us expected we can only look forward to happier time when life will be back to some sort of normal (What ever that is).
At Easter our family were disappointed that we could not be together “ don’t worry will have a great Christmas “ I told them. Little did I know we would still be in the same position.
    So here goes-
Have a safe and Merry Christmas 🎄 and let’s look forward to a Very, Very good 2021🥂

Received an email from HAL in the early hours of this morning giving us an update on our planned cruise of Japan and Russia, scheduled for April 2021.  Bear in mind that this trip was a already a re-booking of our cancelled April 2020 cruise.
Referring to the recently released Framework for Conditional Sailing from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this is what they had to tell us:-
"As we continue to prepare and develop our plans, we have made the decision to extend our pause in cruise operations for all departures through March 31, 2021, cruises of eight days or longer that call at a U.S. port through November 1, 2021, and select longer cruise itineraries departing this spring. As a result, your upcoming voyage has been affected.
You will be automatically re-booked on the below voyage with your cruise fare and promotions protected, in the same (or equivalent) stateroom category. As a gesture of our appreciation, an Onboard Credit (OBC) will be applied to your new booking of USD $150 per person (up to USD $300 per stateroom).
Noordam (Voyage N123), Monday, April 11, 2022, 14-day Japan and Russia."

Can't say as I'm surprised and at least we've been given plenty of notice.  We've been advised that the re-booking confirmation will be sent to us by 8 December 2020 and, at that point, we can raise any queries or "consider an alternate sailing" either via our Agent or direct with their Southampton office.
In the current climate, I thought members might find it helpful to know the thinking from across the pond.

Yes another 4 weeks, but then I have not really been out much since we returned home from our last cruise on 17th March. I Just wish people would do as they are told then maybe the transmission would be lower. We maybe the older generation but we still want to get on with our lives.
I look forward to be able to cruise again, so let’s wish and pray for a vaccine soon.

I certainly agree with the comments by OWT and David above. As the mainstream cruise lines build ever larger ships, I think it would get more difficult for them to have regional departures, especially on a frequent basis. Liverpool could be reasonably well provided for, as long as the new cruise terminal eventually gets built. Places like Newcastle and Rosyth however would only seem suitable for those travelling by car.  Additionally, Rosyth cannot take large ships as access is restricted by the Forth Bridges. Greenock can take fairly large ships but again, there is very little infrastructure there to support changeovers and a relatively small population to provide a decent supply of passengers.
Another relevant issue is that the RCI and Carnival companies have made significant commitments to Southampton. RCI I believe made a large financial contribution when City Cruise Terminal was rebuilt and enlarged. Carnival the same with Ocean Terminal and of course with Carnival in particular, their UK HQ is in Southampton. Increasingly, the cruise lines are looking to cut costs and a way of doing this is to be based in one centre in order to get the best deals.
At the end of the day, I don't see regular, large-ship cruising anywhere other than Southampton in the UK.

Just seen in the news that a family were not allowed to return to the ship after leaving an excursion in Capri. The ship had organised a ferry from Naples which had been specially prepared for the tour group. One family part way into the tour decided to leave and do their own thing. They returned to Naples only to find their luggage on the quayside. MCS said that it would not be fair to the other passenger who had abided by the rules.
I would like to think that the other cruise companies would do the same.
