    Cruising after the 'virus'

I would be happy to cruise and go ashore with an permitted excursion. I would feel much safer knowing that it would greatly reduce the risk of virus transmission. Until we get a vaccine I think it will be the only way to go if you want to “Carry on Cruising”

    Cruising with MSC Grandiosa

Just seen in the news that a family were not allowed to return to the ship after leaving an excursion in Capri. The ship had organised a ferry from Naples which had been specially prepared for the tour group. One family part way into the tour decided to leave and do their own thing. They returned to Naples only to find their luggage on the quayside. MCS said that it would not be fair to the other passenger who had abided by the rules. I would like to think that the other cruise companies would do the same.

Venice to be a 'cruise-free' port-well for now.

To sail into Venice was amazing, we did it on Arcadia a couple of times and to see the entrance into the Grand Canal from your balcony is magical. BUT, I have to say I cannot understand how the local people can complain about the cruise ships when there own water taxis and buses travel on the water so fast they make more wash than the big ships.
  4. We are booked on Arcadia in April, paid £2400 pp for a balcony with £770 OBS per cabin+ parking. Now would cost £3000 pp and £270 OBS per cabin +parking. (Same cabin grade) I do feel so sorry for those that had booked the World Cruise, so disappointing.

Oh for some 'joined up' thinking.

Sounds a great idea, but the logistics and cost to the cruise companies would be a nightmare.

Apathy rules - or so it seems-

So sorry to hear this Jensen, keep positive, I was diagnosed with terminal cancer with just a few months to live. That was in 2011 to everybody’s surprise ( even my surgeons) I am here and cancer free. So don’t give up hope 💕

CMV in a last-ditch effort to stay afloat

We did a 7 day cruise to Norway in May 2016, booked on the Saturday sailed 3 days later. Cost £399 each for an outside cabin. We through it was a cheap cruise. We had a great time on Marco Polo.
  8. Any ideas as to which ships it will be? That is if it is true.

CMV in a last-ditch effort to stay afloat

We have had some good holidays on CMV it will be shame if they can’t survive this difficult period.

I have to agree with you. The forum has been very quiet. I have been looking at the old subjects heading from last year and as nobody is cruising no questions are being asked, nobody is complaining about their experience onboard, no comments about drink packages or onboard spend. Maybe when we get back to cruising (I do hope we do) the forum may pick up.

how about a cruise to nowhere.

I consider myself told off. But I am fed up with people complaining about things that might not happen. Let’s wait and see what the industry does to bring back cruising. Once we know the truth then we can comment and not second guess.

You are lucky enough to be still on this planet. Not so for over 44,000 poor souIs is that not positive enough for you. I look around and my garden has never look so good, my neighbours are people you stop and talk with instead of just the odd hello. the books I always said I would read are now done. i understand the use of my laptop and iPad more and can Zoom and FaceTime with ease.

how about a cruise to nowhere.

I have no need of duty free. I don’t drink and I don’t smoke. Why are so many comments on this forum negative, in these times can’t we be a little more positive.

how about a cruise to nowhere.

I have said the same in the past. I would be more than happy to spend a couple of weeks just a sea, enjoy the facilities on the ship and have somebody else cook for us would be brilliant.

    Carnival selling 6 ships

We have two holidays booked on Arcadia next year. So hoping she won’t get the axe.

    Carnival selling 6 ships

Yes P & 0 confirmed this morning she had gone. So they have no reason to start and strip her. Under normal conditions she would have been in service right up to the end.

Hi Mitch, We have been talking about on the thread, “Carnival selling 6 ships” you may not have seen it. But I must admit I am sorry to see her go. Never like that ship.

    Carnival selling 6 ships

Well I have to admit that Oceana was not my favourite ship, but like you say afcandrew I am sorry for the people looking forward to holidays booked on her. If P & O do the same as before when selling ships we won’t get confirmation until the papers are signed. P & O took a booking from us on Adonia only for us to get a phone call the next day to say she had been sold.
  22. I will wait and see what the UK cruise market has to say. Not sure I want to be directed by a American Organisation at the moment.

Cunard - this was so nearly perfect.....

Like you I was tempted, having spent time in Boston in the rain I would like to visit again in the dry. But the rest of the days are a little rushed. So will pass on this one.

    Cruising after the 'virus'

We have been lucky just to have to deal with the cruise companies, some of the horror stories about refunds from Airlines and hotels are much worse.

    Cruising after the 'virus'

I am sure there will be many changes. Can you imagine a coach tour done with social distancing, the cost would be huge as each coach could only take a quarter of is normal load. I hope that by the next time we cruise (April 2021) life we have settled down and we will have the confidence to travel. I have said in a past post that I would be happy to sail around the seas for a couple of weeks and never touch land. Just to be able to enjoy the facilities onboard ship and have somebody cook for me would be heaven.
