  1. Just looked at the repositioning from Malta to Dubai in October 20 as I wanted to do Suez however it has gone up by over £1000 each ! funny
  2. Not offered another cruise, only if we book the same cruise for 20/21 we can have 10% off, big deal and will it be cancelled again or will we just watch to see what the situation is! not sure still. Gutted! We can understand why nobody goes into a unsafe situation it’s only a holiday after all
  3. So one year on having all booked, just had an email from P&O because of the problems with Iran our cruise is off Orina not. Going to be based in Dubai they are looking for coming up with a new programme for her, so disappointed ☹️ I have to say better safe than in trouble
  4. OMG thank goodness never seen fights, have seen the odd domestc row between a couple but never a fight, have heard tails like a couple of husbands in the laundrette and two ladies over a washing machine. I did see one of injured was a crew member I have just seen that the couple who were arrested have been released
  5. Because P&O have gone up so much for next year we have been looking at Azamara, they come out good value because it includes every thing, glad we booked Dubai last year for next March, perhaps the fly cruises are better value but we like sailing from Southampton and back however not at the cost of another cruise. Just my opinion as usual
  6. I do so agree we went on the Aurora in June, the price went up by £500 each, but the same cruise next year has gone up by £1200 each think that is because the grants have come off, just my opinion as usual
  7. Aurora is a lovely ship, great crew, good atmosphere we were on her in June From experence the weather in your ports should be good warm sunshine calm seas, but sailing from Southampton could be cold and bit choppy at best, we had very choppy waters when we did it a few years ago. Enjoy your cruise
  8. Maybe from the last cruise Aurora did, because the crew were going off sick as well as many passengers, also 3 deaths, that we know off so could be more. think it’s just one of things, I don’t know the cause, we are just making educated guess.
  9. Hi Sinbad, how strange your wife having a chest infection, I put the problem on Aurora down to the refit of carpets, getting fibre in the air con, did you have many others on your ship with this respiratory problems? hope your wife is soon better
  10. We have just disembarked from 19 nights on the Aurora, lovely cruise good food, and service, good cabin and cabin steward, other passenger, all friendly and chatty, the one downside was the amount of illness, both crew and passengers went down like flys with chest infection, some people even hospitalalised the air con does not help, however we did have a nice time
  11. Why do I find packing so stressful, never used too, then cleaning the house top to bottom I have utmost respect for anybody who does World cruise, never thought. About it befor but boy sorting out all that goes with being away for that length of time I take my hat off you. Tomorrow when we embark it will be a relief.
  12. We have done this cruise, we used euros, without any problem Iceland is expencive but they do wonderful hot chochlate but I cont remember not paying with anything different from Euros. have a wonderful time
  13. We are on her next week on A deck we like the high deck we were on this ship for the new year cruise, but she has now had a refit becoming adults only, so don’t know if that will make any difference apart from new carpets, and chairs.
  14. I think most ships have lifts which don’t go every deck, some decks you are not able to walk along because of kitchens, restaurants, sun decks swimming pools, you get to know these as the cruise goes along, as I understand they have lots of complaints about the lifts on Britana. So was surprised to hear your complaint about Venturas lifts, as for late night buffet, have breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, not many people would want yet more food surely?
  15. Have been with Cunard over 20 times, and have always booked the cabin we like, and second sitting dinning and requested a table for 2 but not always possible to get however we have noticed more tables got 2 A’s they are more popular If you have booked the cheaper fare, you are allocated a cabin tow weeks befor sailing, and often don’t know until embarking which dinning time, or table number, Ihave never known anybody being able to change the booking if the balance has been paid, if you have paid the deposit only you may be able to change, but will then have to pay admin charge. My a
  16. Thank God never experienced anything like that, rough seas yes, out ran a hurricane so four ports cancelled but nothing like a major problem I would not like to air lifted, put it another way, would not be air lifted. My heart goes out to the passengers and crew on board.
  17. Yes I do agree we went once, and I felt sick at the amount people had on the plate and could not have got anymore in there mouth, then left a pileup mess only my opinion of cause.
  18. We have been Aurora twice and have had a very nice table for two with a window on second sitting but as always you don’t know what you have until embarking You can only hope, Good luck
  19. We were in Amsterdam overnight in January this year, the Tax hadstarted then, we had no problem we were docked next to Queen Elizabeth (ship ) so two cruise ships, but the Elizabeth sails around midnight. From what we were told the port authorities wanted to regulate how many visitors went into the city, so it could be the port authority that had made the cruise ship dock away from the city, which means the cruise lines have no choice just my deduction of cause
  20. I don’t think it’s demographic it’s more traditional I don’t understand half of the young stand up so say comics goes over my head. I find more slap stick or life observing more humorous Victoria Wood, Les Dawson style both sadly gone.
  21. Funny the things you find you need, have difficulty finding and buying to solve a problem, then never travel without it But then never need it again, my holiday bag is full of such stuff, now out of date, or dry as bone, however seem to need the glasses repair kit, my sun glasses, or reading glasses I have one arm falling off or a screw missing so my pound shop kit gets used most holidays.
  22. I thought it was interesting washing, drying, and ironing 1000 pieces of bedding in an hour, amazing I know shows my mentality I’m interested in the hospitality side, I have no experence in that area. i could not cope in a ship that size but can marvel in the operation side just my personal opinion
  23. Thank you all for your information, we will now do the Dubai to Malta, we booked that one last year, then will the India from Dubai back to Dubai another time. yes I think P and O are missing a trick, because they would be getting a good deal from us,
  24. Yes DQ it was a P&O I phone Bolsover, and she got back to me the next day, the cruise prior to the one already booked come up £300 saving on total price, that was not each , we think we will do the Indian cruise Dubai to Dubai at another time, we were not offered 10% off both cruises !
  25. We have now got the back to back price, which was not impressive don’t think we will eg £300 saving after not having to have Dubai flights x 2 I always thought you got good discount. Thank you for all your help.
