  1. The email today that Cunard and P&O would sail back to Southampton empty, and suspend cruises until April 11 th ? with no med ports to dock at I did wonder what would happen and not just the Med, Norway the Baltic the world is getting smaller As I said in my last post, I could not cope being confined to my cabin, nor not being to dock at ports. this will have a effect on all cruise lines sadly
  2. Sorry Sinbad I am not being snug, we should have been going on P and O Dubai to Malta on 17th March gutted that the cruise was cancelled because of Iran problems since then not found anything to replace it, which is why not booked for this year, however now I am pleased, thought the forum would think I was overreacting like many have cruised for years, never thought about ships being quarantined I could not cope, well done to those who could.
  3. Now another Princess cruise on lock down, this must impact on booking, If fact the cruise industry in today’s papers all sorts of inducements to book and we have post or emails every day. Sorry still not going to book, I could not cope. With situation of not being able to leave our cabin/stateroom I am sure lots of you wil think how silly we are, but that’s how it goes
  4. I am not putting the blame on anybody, I am saying the situation is very worrisome and how would it impact me and my family If it was my mother and father involved, I would be out of mind with worry, on the other hand if it was us, our children, and grandchildren would be worried. I feel so sorry for all involved.not something you can do anything about. It must have had an impact on the cruise industry because I have never had so much post, with offers, and emails with offers, not booking at the moment
  5. I think the situation is terrible when I see the son of David Abel who is worried to death about his mother and father He is unable to fly out to support them and what about travel insurance? If you were taken I’ll they would fly you home! In this situation that’s not possible because it’s a quarantine situation. have to say it’s made me think twice about far away fly cruise, I am sure a lot of you will think I’m over reacting and it’s just my opinion
  6. Poor Abel family, What a dark place that family must be in. David and his wife now taken to hospital they must wonder when they will ever get home I fail to understand why the foreign office have not been in touch with the UK passengers and some sort of plan put in place, just shows you can’t depend on anybody, apart from your family, who have there hands tied, with no communication from anybody. Think it’s a revelation what can happen. My heart goes out to them
  7. How will Princess cruise get over the problems with the Diamond Princess with all passengers being in quarantine must be like being in prison, no cabin service, meal left outside your door, yes I understand the need, but when passengers disembark will the air con units be well. cleaned, etc,etc I would not like to sail on her anytime soon Hope this does not sound selfish because my heart goes out to those on board, I would hate it, they don’t even know when they will get home. makes you think, just my opinion Good luck to all those in quarantine
  8. Taking this opportunity to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the forum members, have a good one, all health and happiness in 2020
  9. I did not want to start the same thread It has gone very short of posts is everybody getting ready for Christmas? Without sounding smug I have the tree up, finished present buying, but not wrapped nor have I done the cards. hope all are well Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
  10. Good morning HLM, from the chats we had with other passengers yes I would say others are buying less, because they thought the prices were a ripoff! Nobody mind paying a bit extra your on holiday, but being that much overcharged is another thing not that your short of money that’s not the issue.
  11. No this was not a double, it was single and then the mixer it is 15% service. Last time on Cunard a spirit was the price and the mixer was free, in a jug. All I am saying is anything bought on board is expensive, so if anybody is doing a cruise with Cunard know to expect to pay high prices, this was the main topic of conversation from fellow passengers.
  12. Having not been on Cunard Queen Victoria for three years, I was looking forward to this cruise, we went on P&O in June this year so feel with up to date memories It pains me say the prices on Cunard for drinks are quite frankly ridiculous two single measure spirits plus a mixer £26 bottle of wine £40 the shops were o erpriced. The ship is still magnificent all areas clean I don’t think the service is as good as it was I feel very sad about this as a long standing devoted Cunard passenger Just my opinion, and experience
  13. Two years ago, I got covered in black soot on white linen trousers and white T shirt. I went to reception to complain they said they would wash them, which they did, when we got home I put them in the wash, they fell to bits. I was not alone in getting covered in soot lots of other said they had but nobody else got Pand O to wash the stained cloths.
  14. So sorry to Davybe that your unwell, think that maybe putting it mildly? We are off on Wednesday on the Queen Vic, not been on Cunard for two years, will be nice to see our favourite ship, nice to see some sun as well, after rain and more rain. Yes PP it has gone A bit silent on here Hope all the forum regulars are well
  15. How low can they go as if people don’t have enough to worry about.
  16. As I understood the stamp enty and exit was the visa, that is what we were told, we did not have to pay
  17. How my heart goes out to people who are on holiday with Thomas cook I would like to bet they are not very well informed the reps have lost there jobs so would not be on hand to reassure you, the hotels want payment for your stay, although you have paid weeks ago at home I think most of us at some time have booked with Thomas Cook
  18. Our visit was about three years ago, time goes by so quickly it may have been four years! we did do this as land base holiday I think it would be more difficult from a cruise, but that isonly my impression a word of warning, so much begging, from some not very nice people, aggressive, if you ignore them they spit at you, that was our experence anyway
  19. We went to Jordan from Taba in Egypt, we had Togo to the border, and get a visa, which was free, did The Pink city, in Petra, on return to go back into Taba, our visa was cancelled.
  20. Love Lisbon, so easy to walk into the centre, quicker than the shuttle bus, as lots of heavy traffic just walk along the road by the terminal, then cross over into the square. very good for shoe shopping! Have a great time.
  21. Have a lovely time Mitch, I am so glad you are able to get back to going on cruises and the warm sun will help your health
  22. Oh dear, I can see your point, yes our cruise in June on Aurora I was uncomfortable with the amounts of deaths, and hospitalion that went on. some passengers from embarkation hall looked unwell, I wonder then if some should be going away. only my opinion as usual, and have sympathy with people who suffer chronic illness
  23. Yes it’s only P&O who taken the action to stop the sailings! On Ocena being out in Dubai
  24. I don’t know what to think, having the FO advice not to enter the gulf and the navy saying that they don’t enough ships to protect shipping the insurance would be difficult for the cruise lines. the advice my Dad used to give me was when in doubt do nought so that’s what we are doing for now
