    Lock Down

We have only yesterday transferred our May 2021 cruise on Britannia to a May 2022 cruise. It might well sail but do not like the thought of the restrictions being rumoured at the moment and think it is a bit early to hope cruising will be back to something normal.

    Lock Down

P&O prices for Summer 2022 due to go on sail next week have not had a great increase in price. Prices for 2021 have gone up to silly prices because of demand with so many cancelling cruises this year and our cruise on Arcadia in 2021 had gone up considerably since we booked it in September 2019 before Covid and cruise lines ceasing sailing so that has nothing to do with fewer passengers so a hike in prices.

Oh dear we have been hacked yet again

It is plainly obvious that Bolsover have no interest in this forum and maintaining it and making sure it is safe for users. Will have to find another cruise forum to frequent.

Oh dear we have been hacked yet again

Dont think Bolsover have any great interest in monitoring this forum and is rarely used dont know why they dont just scrap it.

    P&O ships futures.

Believe depending on contract signed that Iona 2 will be either cancelled or very seriously delayed and that because of their age I think Oceana's and Aurora's futures will be in very serious doubt as P&O will streamline their fleet to cut costs and keep the larger ships where profits will be higher. I think even with the loyalty of many past cruisers some will decide not to cruise again and where in recent years cruising has increased year on year I think many future cruisers after recent publicity will change their minds and not cruise. P&O I think will struggle to fill 20000 people in cruise ships week in week out so will only end up with a streamlining of the fleet.

    Cruising after the 'virus'

At the end of the day will we ever know the real cause. I very much doubt it.

    P&O -does 'goodwill' exist?

I recently contacted Bolsover to enquire about changing a booking made in Oct 2019 for a cruise on Britannia in May 2021 for Select price inside cabin to Select price balcony cabin and was quoted price of balcony cabin the day we booked and not the current price.

How about other UK ports ?

Also done because QM2 attracts a lot of German cruisers doing TAs to New York.

    Cruising after the 'virus'

It states on Cunard's website that only QV cruises are cancelled until May, QE until March and QM2 April.

    Ransomeware attack on Carnival

I dont think that P&O and Cunard being "down" suggests it is them I just think Carnival have done the same thing across all its cruise lines just as a precautionary measure.
  13. I dont think small boats and water taxis will do anywhere near as much damage as 1000ft long cruise ships and their draft.
  14. Unless you were on a very small ship I dont think you entered the lagoon going down the Grand Canal you wouldnt be able to get under the bridges the Rialto being the most famous.

Apathy rules - or so it seems-

Personally after listening to Prime Minister on TV I think far too many are thinking the pandemic is over and spreading the virus which will lead to a second wave. We had planned a holiday in Devon in October but have changed our mind we are staying local and being sensible and adhere to social distancing.

    Risen from the ashes-

Dont think Swan Hellenic will take many cruisers that CMV lost due to thier demise.

how about a cruise to nowhere.

Think we are all well aware of that but if as suggested P&O did cruises to nowhere then as I said they would have to up their game with regards to some sort improvement in entertainment compared to the past even in the new norm post Covid.

how about a cruise to nowhere.

It is all about the standard or daytime entertainment if it is P&Os normal fare then I would not be interested but having done a few roundtrip TAs on QM2 to New York and back with every day at sea with one day in New York then they are excellent and thoroughly enjoy them but Cunard do make an effort with their daytime programme with excellent speakers. Plus it all depends on the port of calls as some places cruise lines go I am bored after an hour or they have no interests or just tourist tat not my idea of a port of call walking around shops experiencing tat made in China with Welcome to Spain/Italy etc.

how about a cruise to nowhere.

Would Guernsey want a ship tendering in thousands of people off a cruise ship, I very much doubt it. They have done a fantastic job in controlling Coronavirus and very much doubt they would want to risk allowing cruise passengers ashore.

    oceana sold immediateley

Cunard's new ship is not due until 2022 not 2021.

I agree the burgers on Britannia are awful.
  22. sinbad10

    Carnival selling 6 ships

Very strong rumours on another forum and one person who reckons he has it on good authority from an "insider" that Oceana is leaving P&O.
  23. sinbad10

Whilst I can see where you are coming from whenever I have used it they have always been better quality and higher standard that what you would get at Boots or W H Smiths. You could also say burger bar and pizza bar is no different than Mc Donald's or Domino's pizza but is just another choice available which is not a bad thing because many dont want full meal in buffet or MDR especially at lunch.

Cunard - this was so nearly perfect.....

We did New York-Quebec and return many years ago on QE2 but flew to NY from UK and return.

    Cruising after the 'virus'

I cannot see how they can operate cruises this year at least without social distancing especially in theatres and show lounges and without the wearing of masks around the ship and it certainly isnt for me and would rather not cruise under those circumstances. Hoping by the time my next P&O cruise on Britannia next May there will be a vaccine available and everything might be virtually back to normal. Dont care if they got rid off buffets completely as we only really used them last thing at night for a hot drink and perhaps a snack and going back to the old days when Cafe Bordeaux was open on Aurora and available for late night snacks and hot drinks was far superior. One thing P&O and all cruise lines have got to get a grip of is ensuring everybody uses hand sanitizer before entering any eating venue and when they return to ship at ports of call. Hand sanatizer is available at gangways but not monitored by staff and very few actually use it.
