Some large US agents book group space at a preferential rate and can pass the lower cost on to their clients.  I have booked several times with a particular representative of a large online TA and he knows our preferences.  We were looking at a particular cruise and he asked if our dates were flexible.  When we said they were, he suggested the same cruise three weeks earlier because they could add us to a group and save over $1000.  I was doubtful about the implications of joining a group, but he explained that it was actually a group of cabins not a group of people and we wouldn't even be aware of the others in the group.  We also received some OBC and a specialty restaurant dinner.  He told me that they could buy extras from the cruise line at a reduced rate depending on their sales volume.  The OBC was not refundable because the cruise line participated in the cost.

I write honest ones too. Not enough write to praise I feel focusing on complaints rather than on good service. I was rewarded once , without asking, when we had an excellent afternoon tea that my daughter had given us as a gift in Guildford House of Fraser shot. It`s a way over the top pink and blue girlie experience in there with excellent fayre. I did a tongue in cheek review with photos which I sent direct to them for a competition they were running on the experience  that praised staff and food whilst stating it all brought me in touch with my feminine side. They replied that it had made them laugh and if I was kind enough to post it on Trip Advisor, which i`d intended to do next anyway, that they would reward me with another afternoon tea for my trouble. I promptly did so. I could not believe the previous 3/4 reviews on their which were so at variance with our own experience as to be deeply suspicious which is no doubt why they asked. It was funny to see one reviewer was there the same day as us and seemingly had such a different experience.

Not all reviews are fake, I did one for a Saga holiday we had been on, they contacted me and now it is used in the new brochure.

    Hi DQ.
In your case I would ask Bolsover if Cunard refer your onboard booking back to them? you would get extra OBC from Cunard ?....Davybe

I've probably been booking with Bolsover ( on and off ) since about the same time Gill57, I have never been let down by them either and only ever received excellent service, when I have gone elsewhere it has only been because another agent might be offering a better deal with a considerable saving, I would love to see the 'old system' brought back where agents  have a % to work with and can give what they want to the passenger, I realise they do work with the same % as all other agents but an extra 1 or 2 % was always appealing.

Indeed Mitch it is 'gender divide' .. we do tend to match u/wear to outerwear as we do shoes/bags, my husband couldn't care less if his clothes match or not - just as well he has me to keep him in check 🙄😉

I'm just curious ... how many members book with Bolsover Cruise Club ??
Although I live within a few miles of where their office used to be about 25/30 years ago I had never heard of them, on a cruise it was actually a couple we met who lived in Liverpool who introduced us to them, since the early days I have booked with them many times but I am not totally loyal if another agent can offer a better deal then like most I will go with the best deal.
I'm even closer to their current premises but that isn't my reason for booking with them now what is more important to me these days is the knowledge their consultants have and the better deal has become secondary, a saving of £50/£100 seems insignificant to me if you are not getting the service, Bolsover have never let me down on service what do others think.

I can't imagine why you would think I see myself as a victim, I never have and I never will, like anyone you have the 'right to reply' with or without a quote and if you choose to jump on any word I use just because you don't like it then I don't see the problem as being mine, as someone said in a previous thread you are arguing for arguing sake but keep up the good work as it says much more about you than it does me !!

I agree with you no common sense at all ,absolutely clueless some of these management trainees,I had to work for them it was like looking after a child at times, they knew all the buzz words and could endlessly sit a long meeting talking rubbish, and getting well paid for it.
When it came down to getting something done they were never capable, but they were first in line to criticise when things went wrong. My Boss called the "Butterfly's" they flit from meeting to meeting achieving nothing.....Davybe

With fuel consumption around 70 mpg it is something I would definitely consider, we did have a hybrid car on loan when ours was in for service a while ago but I didn't get to drive it so I don't know if performance wise they do feel different to drive, as a passenger I can't say I noticed anything different but then as long as a car gets me from A to B I'm happy.

It doesn't surprise me, when I worked I would regularly take Management Trainee's' through my office and you wouldn't believe just how thick some of these University students were, I'm sure many were very clever but when it came down to common sense or the simplest of tasks they hadn't a clue.

As usual HLM you take something else out of context, the use of the word 'thick' is an everyday word which I'm sure many use frequently but keep up the good work because if nothing else it highlights to others just how argumentative you can be and your tendency to 'stalk' certain people and I am by no means the only one.

My brother who is five years younger than me was taught differently to the way I was and he struggles with things I find relatively easy, having said that he excels in many things I don't so it's swings and roundabouts, I have never agreed with the use of calculators etc in schools as they hardly get the brain working, I think it's wonderful that so much is available to the young these days but in my opinion 'back to basics' would do them no harm at all and sadly that is what a lot seem to lack the common sense to work something out for themselves.

I haven't been through an EU channel at an airport in years and I'm not planning to, I guess some countries will be a little tighter as we disembark at cruise ports but that already happens in some places, I think having transitted US ports many times if I can cope with their 'customs control' Europe should be a doddle 😉

I would think that your EU-branded passport will continue to be valid as a British passport until you renew.  Obviously it won't however entitle you to go through an EU channel at an overseas airport!

i think theres a bit of difference when the job entails working with numbers HLM my brother in law just sees garbage when he looks at a column or row of numbers but he is one awesome car mechanic, has even worked with some major names including morgan but his wife has to do his invoices and books. i would have thought working in a retail environment ought to require basic numeracy.

I can still add a column of figures up quicker in my head than by using a calculator.

I have to agree with you, I once had to ask a Uni student to help out by sorting the mail in a large office, they did not understand the system which was alphabetical, so simple but as you say no common sense, does make you wonder what is taught at school these days,  The younger generation use their phones and computers for everything. What happens when the power goes down,
