I'm not sure but I believe you have to register with P&O if you require assistance, I think there is also a separate check in desk which fast tracks you through check in   - Towny would be the one to ask.

I thought the same yesterday RayO.
As I don't have children I'm really not the one to answer this question however what I will say is from what I have seen/observed  the 'teens' ( by that I mean 16+ )  always seem to find each other.
Whitjaw - just my opinion but Britannia is a family ship and your dates are in the middle of the school holidays so I would take an educated guess that there will be plenty of 16+ on board, failing that I'm sure someone from the youth team will have a few suggestions and of course teenagers love to hang out by the pool area so maybe that would be a good place for your son to check out, I'm sure he'll be fine and you'll all have a great time.

As I said in an earlier post if someone only drinks a couple of drinks a day then a 'package' isn't for them 🍷
I would always do the 'maths' and on a very port intensive cruise I wouldn't even consider one, if I was doing a round trip Caribbean then with lots of sea days for me/us it would make sense but like anything there are various factors to take into account ... P&O, CMV, FredO for instance are ( at the moment ) very reasonable with their pricing, Cunard, Celebrity, RCI are not ( I don't know about other lines like Costa/MSC )  how long this will last is anyone's guess but more and more I am seeing especially on Cunard people leaving their cabins with a 'glass in their hand' ... regardless of what my opinion is on this at the end of the the day the cruise lines are out to make a profit and if people are not spending in the bars they will look at every which way to get them to part with their cash !!

Nothing to do with the cost, We do not take any drinks on board, because we don’t have alcohol every day, I would not have a drinks package, maybe other would think it good value, it’s up to them.

We all have different expectations and we always come home with many memories (usually good).  My favourite ship, difficult to say it would have to be a combination of many.  But I have said before it is not the ship we travel on, it is the people we meet that make our holidays

Just waded through the new awful Cunard website to look at the wine packages and I see they are offering a drinks package for $69 per day now on the QV and the QE as from December 2018.

Like most on here we have our favourite ship ,in our case it is Celebrity's Eclipse absolutely loved it, but we liked P& Os Oceana and RCI's Brilliance of the seas.
But we were talking and decided that the ship that impressed us most Was Cunards QE .
We met up with friends and after Dinner we did a walk around the ship, and I have never heard the Phrases "Wow' "look at that" "How nice is this" The Theatre is most impressive with its boxes , And the Lounge with squishy leather sofas and panoramic views ,along with heated pools . for me made it the ship we have been most impressed with, beating the RCI Ships.IMO>
Have you a particular ship you were most impressed with.....Davybe

We would and to be perfectly honest quite easily, as DQ points out it only equates to 5/6 drinks.
Me personally can easily drink 3 to 4 pints between noon and 5pm as well as a soft drink or two, in the evening several more, not something I do in everyday life but when on holiday I enjoy it.
Obviously it doesn't work for everyone but given the option all inclusive gives me the freedom to relax without having to check my onboard spend every 5 minutes like some do.

I agree, 5/6 alcoholic drinks a day is far from excessive and given P&O are one of the most competitively priced lines when it comes to onboard drink prices I don't see why people think it's expensive.
Last year when they announced the trial my initial thought was expensive, but on the reflection it's quite a reasonable offer.

After trying Cunard in the Queen's grill for the first time last year, I doubt we'll be tempted back to P&O either. As to the drinks package I think it's a reasonable price. I wouldn't say we are heavy drinkers but we spent a lot more than that per day on Cunard in spite of buying their wine packages.

    Hi littlemousa,
We have done quite a few drinks package/all inclusive cruises with the likes of Celebrity, Azamara, Silversea and even Marella and can honestly say I have never personally witnessed any increase in irresponsible behaviour.  Mind you, it could be that I am usually too far gone to notice!!!!  😜

A few years ago we purchased the drinks package on a Celebrity cruise, I can't remember the exact cost but it was around £1100 for us both on a 17 day cruise, I don't consider either of us are 'excessive' drinkers but we certainly more than broke even, we did have quite a lot of sea days so I do think this is something to be taken into account, also with Celebrity it included speciality coffee/water etc and not having read the T&C from P&O I wouldn't know if it is the same.
Personally I think £39.95 pppd is a pretty good price ( depending on how many sea days ) on average it is only 5/6 drinks per day  - less if like us you are used to paying US prices !! they don't necessarily have to be alcoholic drinks 🍷 🍺

Just a thought .. how many people would consider buying the drink package on FO or CMV but not with P&O or Celebrity etc .. is it all about cost ??
I can appreciate if someone would only have a couple of drinks a day then a package wouldn't be for them but as I said in my earlier post the cost with P&O only equates to 5/6 drinks a day and whilst I certainly don't consider I drink to the excess I would find this very easy, we always have wine with dinner so half a bottle of wine ( for me ) over a period of a couple of hours when eating is easily achievable ( probably equates to 3 x standard glass of wine ) I love decent coffee so again it would be quite normal for me to have 3/4 during the day ( I certainly don't bother with the free coffee in the buffet which I think is yuk !! but each to their own )
What has surprised me over the last couple of days on both forums and FB is the amount of people who have said 'I couldn't possibly drink that amount in a day' and yet these are the same people who openly admit they take bottles of spirits on board so they can have a pre dinner drink in their cabin obviously these are the non drinkers !!! not that I'm suggesting anyone on this forum does that but there is food for thought why people are happy to drink their own drinks but not happy to pay for a package.

Well yes obviously cost is a consideration but my point is those people who say they couldn't possibly drink 5/6 drinks a day - do they have a change of heart if they are only paying £450 as opposed to £1100 ?? not having a go at anyone but it does sound a bit like double standards to me.

P&O can charge what they like for their drinks package, they won't be getting my money.  We gave up on them a couple of years ago and haven't seen anything likely to tempt us back.

There's a name from the past, Lonnie Donegan, the King of Skiffle whom I believe played guitar. His son Peter is a contestant in 'The Voice' this year and has Tom Jones as his mentor.

I enjoy most types of music depending on my mood, agree with Davybe there are some brilliant music videos which can be seen on youtube , one of my favourite performers is Andre Rieu if you haven't seen a performance by him you don't know what you are missing ... spectacular !!

*Dancing Queen* got a reaction from Countrygirl in No service charge on P&O Cruises
I truly feel sorry for anyone who is a wheelchair/scooter user but rules are rules and if someone like Towny is forced to book early to secure an adapted cabin then I think it is very wrong of P&O ( or any other line ) to then bend the rules and allow scooters on, obviously without knowing the facts it would be wrong to judge but if someone turns up with a scooter which has not been declared at the time of booking then they should have been refused boarding unless they were prepared to leave it in Southampton.
There are reasons P&O brought these rules in and it wasn't just to make life difficult for people who need to use a scooter tbh if I had been on that cruise and forced to pay an inflated price only to discover P&O then moved the 'goal posts' I would be demanding a substantial refund !!
