Popsicle got a reaction from J-Dog in Shows at Sea
Hmmmmm wonder where you got the idea for this topic

Having just returned from Azura I have to say I was so disappointed by the entertainment offered. I LOVE a good show, and there were none that took my fancy at all on this cruise.

As you say OWT - Spectres Cabaret is incredible, didn't have a scooby doo what was going on when I saw it on Anthem last year but it was captivating and very memorable!
Also on a Celebrity Cruise a couple of years ago we came across a fantastic string group called Stringfever - a group of brothers playing electric string instruments in a modern way - something totally different and again memorable!

I think Anthem's 'We Will Rock You' with the never aging 'Curly' from Coronation Street was also another favourite. So far Celebrity and RCI certainly have the upper hand where entertainment is concerned.

Very much looking forward to seeing what Harmony Of The Sea's has to offer in May - I've already heard the stage show will be Grease

A couple of weeks ago I was at a cruise industry function and had this discussion with others. Customers say that standards have fallen but when asked which standards they are sometimes hard pressed to say. Go back 50 years and when compared with today it can be seen that standards have in fact risen. Example, how many 2 berth cabins consist now of 'bunk beds', answer, none. How many cabins now do not have ensuite facilities? answer, none. How many ships don't have stabilisers? answer, none. 50 years ago, how many ships offered the selection of food types now available on the modern ship, answer, very few. What has changed in some cases is the quality of service and forget the top level suites etc but look at the run of the mill main dining rooms. It used to be 1 waiter and one asst. waiter to 3 tables of 2, 4 or 6,  now in many cases its 1 waiter sharing with 3 others 1 asst. waiter and looking after up to 6 tables of 8. Has the quality of food gone down or is it the poor preparation and presentation. I was recently on a ship that does 'plated meals'. One evening when my main course arrived the gravy was so dried that you could hold the plate at an angle of 45 degrees and nothing moved. Meat and veg quality were ok, it was the way it had been kept warm which would not have happened when vegetables were served seperately and gravy was poured by the waiter. People complain that dress codes are not adhered to but fail to recognise that dress codes are only recommended and not enforceable. Can you imagine a passenger being physically restrained from entering a dining room. Not everyone likes to dress up but that does not mean a drop in standards it is just a change from how things were in the past.
Cruising has, and is, taking on a different face with a new breed of cruiser filling the cabins. They adopt the attitude that they are on holiday and don't want to dress up but rather eat when they want, have lots of entertainment and enjoy themselves, hence 'My Time Dining' has become so popular and multi entertainment venues being built into new ship design. Cruise lines are desperately trying to accommodate these new cruisers as they are the future. Standards haven't dropped, some things have changed and to some cruisers not for the better but cruising like life moves on. As always, just my opinion.

In all honesty not impressed. As already said it is a similar scheme to Cunard and whilst it suits the large ships I think it does little for 'Fred Size' ships. I much preferred the white which I thought made them look classy small ships. To me a ship of white hull and superstructure with just the funnel indicating its line,  and the sun making it glisen as it cuts through the blue ocean waters is a beautiful sight.  I am on Braemar in April so it will be interesting to get passenger reaction.

I certainly wasn't being critical of Freds as a brand and can't see any others have either?

I've never sailed with them personally but have heard the service & food are superior to P&O!

Just not keen on the Cunard-esque paint job!

I did and to be honest was not overly impressed, it was in a strange location too, i think it will work better as a daytime venue with its location

I didn't even see this restaurant when I was onboard last year? Wonder if it was added at some point afterwards!

Or maybe my food head was far to busy ogling the not so healthy offerings to notice it!

    Looks incredible!
We recently had some lovely Viking representatives in the office to introduce us to this wonderful new ship and product and I must say the video we saw was very impressive! The infinity pool, al fresco dining room and all the little extra's dotted around make the product look very sumptuous and inviting!

Personally I can't 'Fathom' this 'Fathom' idea out. It's the most awkward departure for a cruise line... essentially paying to stay in 4/5 star luxury then trot off to 'help' the impoverished. Doesn't sit well with me at all.

I have learn to just go along and accept the show on board for what it is - after dinner entertainment at a price that the cruise line can afford. I have often commented on the relative poor quality of Headliners but have decided that, anyone who is even quite good, will be contracted to a threatre company for more money.
My solution ha been to just watch and accept. Sometimes I am pleasantly suprised. My real problem is that P&O put on the same performances across their ships for too long.

Apparantly Queen Vic has stronger/more powerful bow thrusters than Ventura and can handle the bluster better... this is what the passengers onboard Ventura were advised anyway!

Still fail to understand how Princess let that air in the first place, hardly a good or reasonable representation of a 'normal' cruise. I certainly found it very Hi-de-hi and had I not have been on several cruises already I would have been totally put off by it!

As a member of the forum, and of the cruise club itself, I am deeply disappointed to see such personal slurs being aired on this thread. As many have said, there is a time and a place, and this forum is most certainly not the place.

I suggest that if you have no positive input, or contribution to make that you take yourself somewhere else and leave this forum alone.
