Hi Richard and thanks for the photos. The ship is amazing. The bar for cruise ship entertainment has just gone up several notches with the Spectre Cabaret. Never seen anything like it.

This ship is amazing. Last night we watched 'We Will Rock You' performed by the original London cast. It was brilliant. Great food, large cabins, good quality toiletries. This ship is the way forward. Style and elegance mixed with glitz and glamour.

This ship is still amazing me. The food, service and shows are really first class. The bar on cruising has just gone up several notches. For those that like dressing up you can use the Le Grande Restaurant every night and wear DJ or Tux. The Windjammer is huge and without doubt one of the best Buffet Restaurants at sea. The selection is endless. Lobster, Smoked Salmon, Large Prawns available at any time.

As I've mentioned in another thread I am a big fan of the formal nights! my husband doesn't wear a suit for his job so I love that I get to see him all dressed up on holiday. I don't think he is as big a fan as i am though!
For me a large part of cruising is the tradition and glamour and formal nights form a part of that. Although NCL didnt have a formal night as such they still had a night where people could choose to dress up or not. Most people did so it obviously still has it's place!

Thanks Tigerlilly, that's made my day . Aside from few paperback copies left on the Cunard ships, my book is no longer on sale so it was a nice surprise to log on here after so long away and see your comments !
I sold about 3000 copies of my book in the end, with the proceeds going to a local breast cancer appeal which will hopefully enable, for the first time, breast cancer patients in North Wiltshire to have radiotherapy in Swindon rather than be subjected to a daily journey of anything up to 90 mins each way for this treatment. To you, and everyone else that bought my book therefore, thanks very much, I believe you've contributed towards a very worthy cause - I hope you all agree.
    thanks again

I can understand the fustration,  but why on earth would anyone attend a passenger meeting just to ruin thier own holiday?
Would you stand outside SCS and discuss the fact someone got a sofa cheaper than you, no.
So why unnecessarly fustrate yourself whilst on board, sort it when youre home.

is anyone still watching this? I have to say I am fully hooked now. The latest episode even gave me a lump in my throat and almost cried! (which amused my husband greatly!)

We didn't go with cunard but in St Petersburg we did the hermitage, peterhof palace and catherines palace. all were amazing! Some people also did the ballet but it made for a really long couple of days if you try and fit too much in.

I definately advise to do organised shore excursions as arranging independant visas will be a nightmare and now you have to go to the embassy in person to have fingerprints etc done if you do it independantly.

Hi Ray, I am not sticking up for the cruise lines but I think it should be remembered that these are 'Alleged' incidents with only one side of the story being reported.
Personally I am always a little dubious of these stories. Firstly everyone should have travel insurance and if they have given all the required details at the time of booking there should be no need to pay your own money up front, this is why you supply the emergency 24 hour number for the insurance agents. Secondly if things are as bad as are reported why don't they sue the cruise line? The world is full of lawyers who will act on a 'No Win-No Fee' basis. Finally if people did sue and won their case it would be all over the newspapers, but guess what, we never hear of one. Is that because they didn't have a case in the first place. Just my opinion.

I often hear people complaining that they are running out of places to go to as the cruise lines offer repeats to the same destinations. Personally I think that there is a lot of choice and can always find one to suit us however . . . . . .  If you could design an itinerary where would you want to go?

Maybe the readers need the advice to help them cruise more then they'd become the writers ready to help more of the new readers and so it will continue!

I  personally like to try lots of different cruise lines. I book for the right itinerary and the right date for me and my husband. Loyalty rewards wouldn't sway me from going with another company when it comes down to where and when I want to go! Variety is the spice of life and all!

I have a list as long as my arm so still plenty to go at! Would love to go to Bali, would love a (non-cruise) Seychelles trip maybe twinned with a week in Mauritius or Dubai, would love to sail around the Far East.

I've never sailed with Azamara and the more i read about them the more interested i am. I love the fact they do lots of nights in port and two days in a certain destination so you get longer to venture off and experience the nightlife.

Watch this space i may just get onboard yet!
