tigerlilly reacted to *Dancing Queen* in P&O Policy reagrding taking alcohol on board
I really don't understand why so many people are getting upset about the restrictions to be enforced with regard to 'spirits' taken on board, if we are to believe what most folk say then they only want a drink whilst 'getting ready' so I would think 2 litres would be more than enough for the average two week cruise if it isn't then the provision is there to order more via your cabin steward.
Personally I think 'some' of those doing the most complaining are those who have no intention of 'flashing their cash' in the bars, we wouldn't go to our 'local' and take our own 'booze' so why should it be expected that P&O or any other cruise line should welcome it, it's rather like the charge which has been brought in for room service .. too many people using it as their own personal 'butler service' on sea days so have therefore spoilt it for everyone.
Cruise prices have never been cheaper and yet there are still passengers who want to take the #### !!

tigerlilly got a reaction from RobBar in Would you recommend taking a baby on-board an Alaska cruise??
Thank you for your comments everyone. I'm leaning towards thinking we should wait a while til he's a bit older before we venture to Alaska!

I wouldn't think it would be a problem on board as there will be plenty to do providing there is a children's club, it's a number of years since we did Alaska but tbh I don't remember seeing any children on board, what I would say is to get the most out of the experience it would involve tours and depending on how old your little one is many of them wouldn't be suitable, if you are going purely for the scenery then it would probably be fine but personally it isn't a cruise I would choose until a child was older, this is only my opinion though so please don't be put off.

Why not take them? If they can fly OK they will certainly be able to cruise.....Davybe

I have no problem with children on cruise ships, but I am not sure if Alaska is a good choice. The attraction of Alaska is mainly scenery with a possibility of seeing wild life and the weather is often, but not always, cool and damp. As parents, you would be restricted by the needs of your child. Take a look at the types of excursions offered in each port and consider how suitable they would be for your family. I think you would get more out of an Alaska cruise with an older child. A warm weather cruise on a ship with a childrens' splash area and port stops with beaches might be more appropriate right now.

I would check with the cruise line first as to what they offer, most offer programs for children of an age where they go to the washroom or such by themselves
Some do offer a nursery and or babysitting availability (charge)
Age of a child must be six months on boarding or a year depending on cruise like Transatlantic
Here is a link that provides some good information as to cruise lines to consider

To my mind as parents you must remember your child unless under cruise staff supervision will have to be in one of yours constant attention even in areas like the buffet or relaxing in the library , coffee area. If that baby can crawl , a ship is a place to explore and can be dangerous especially carrying on an outside deck or in a pool
Having said that , I have seen couples with infants on-board but a parent is latched on all the time. You will have to spell each other if wanting to see an event in the day or evening or use the nanny service offered. If you have a balcony then that is a no to my mind if the door is open
Enjoy your cruise

Alaska has always been on our to do list but things are a bit different now we have a little one. He's been fine on flights so I'm not worried about that but interested to know other peoples thoughts on what to do onboard and ashore with him and if it would be suitable?
Thanks x

exactly. 24 hours before the end of the sailing if I have read this correctly? Therefore I believe there must be a lot more to it for Regent to go as far as offloading them. They are being professional and respectful by not airing all the details imo

I do like certain brands but i would always look at other options if the date/price/itinerary are better. Variety is the spice of life!

What an utter fiasco! money has been taken out of bank accounts and clients have to wait up to 7 days for refunds!
i understand the upset and worry this has caused however after what happened yesterday in Manchester it certainly puts things into perspective!!!!

tigerlilly got a reaction from Honey73 in NCL Spirit Caribbean
ive been on the Spirit in Europe and we really enjoyed it! would definately recommend the specialiy restaurants! personally we werent keen on the main restaurant so booked the speciality ones every night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The shows were very good they are very strict on closing the doors once the show is on so get there on time!
People were able to smoke in the casino and that meant there was a very strong smell of smoke aorund that area and there was a bar at the far end that we never got to go to as you have to walk through the casino to get there!
The buffet got very busy at times so be aware of not going peak times as there were a lot of people on our cruise grumbling about that.
we really enjoyed our cruise and i dont want to be negative just pointing out the few things that we found. overall a lovely ship that we would definately go on again!

tigerlilly got a reaction from Brian&Wendy in Civitavecchia
i have only done shore excurions in rome organised through the ship. Personally I thought they were worth the money as we didnt waste time getting to places or trying to find where we wanted to be. we saw much more than our friends who went on the same day and did their own thing!
