I might be a cynic but I would want to see cast iron evidence that water displacement in a verylarge lagoon like Venice along a wide waterway like the Guidecca canal, is more damaging than the major high speed wakes impacting the  Grand canal walls from the vaporettas and leisure craft.

We had one of the balconys right at the rear overlooking the stern. We had B169
The benefit of those are the size of the balcony
its twice the size and because of the wasy the decks are you have half the balcony ( the half nearest your door) covered by the deck above then the rest is open ,two sun loungers and still room to put a couple of towels down and lie down getting the sun.
    yes they are that large

    hope that helps

Well just a thought for the ladies. All dressed up in you best long dress and fine jewellery, but will the plastic wristband go???
I for one would not be impressed with been asked to walk around with a plastic wristband.
What about personal security when you are ashore, not a good idea.

Dont like the idea of the wristband/ watch idea. If we go on an all inclusive we pick one where everyone is inclusive so no need for a band, cruise card no problem at all also cruise cards just the same as your door key in a hotel

We once refused our food order at a local chain restaurant when it was delivered to us by an employee I saw while in the restroom who did not wash his hands after he did his duty. The manager was embarrassed and they promptly brought us a replacement dinner.

Sadly it's not behaviour that's confined to ships we see it in hotels as well, also the moronic creatures that pick up items of food at a buffet look at it place it on their plate then decide they do not want it and put it back, worst case I ever saw was a woman who picked up several pieces of breaded calamari placed them on her plate took a bite of one then put the whole lot back, I actually love calamari and was bout to have some myself, needles to say they were quickly off my menu. As to saying anything her other half looked about the size of an Alaskan black bear with a face to match and he growled instead of spoke, discretion became the better part of valour

No problem leaving the auto tips on . we did so with our last cruise April /May on Arcadia, and our Steward, both waiters and the wine waiter got some extra. but there again we had been looked after by four really good friendly guys who even though they were obviously rushed off their feet still found the time to us.
what we did find out talking to them was the amount of jobs other than just the restaurant the waiters do and as for the Cabin stewards its 20 cabins in the morning then other jobs then late afternoon and evening its back to the 20 cabins.
so nope we do not begrudge paying the tips

You must have been unlucky, we have returned from the same cruise, our cabin was spotless it was a balcony one overlooking the wake at the stern, a great job done by our cabin steward.
we dined in the MDR on a table of eight had two wonderful guys looking after us Edaward and Andrino also a good wine waiter all attentive and had time to talk to us. Even got the wife different vegatables on more than one occasion. And on the last formal night got the wife a different meal as there was nothing she liked on The menu.
yes there was the smell that emminated from the extractor on the starboard prom deck from the effluent treatmant plant and it invaded inside around the shops, but it wasnt as bad as some make out.
The odd toilet was out of commission and yes there was the odd bucket.
i believe what people forget is that she last had a refit in 2013, since then EVERY DAY she has had 1800 or more guests and staff walking her corridors, rooms and public spaces so yes she will be starting to get slightly tired, dont forget she is designed to. Flex so its possible the odd pipe joint becomes loose.
how many toilet issues are caused by guests stuffing items down the pan that they shouldnt.
had a great cruise, crew was great, and had a long chat over a coffee with the security officer coming into Southampton on our final morning.

our first cruise on Arcadia it will not be our last

I have read on another forum that they have actually already started this.  Cards are scanned as you enter your Muster Station.  I believe other lines already do this.

I've not heard anything about this but have to agree it's a good idea. What harm can a few minutes out of your cruise do? It's done for our safety and agree with Sammy Sun you wouldn't expect to board a flught without seeing the safety drill first.

I read about this, elsewhere, and believe it was suggested thst Acadia had tried it. I do not understand what the problem is and hink it is a goid idea. It is a legal requirement to have the drill before sailing and, if people are under the impression that because hey have sailed many times before it does not apply to them, everyone should be more than happy to support the safety of the ship.
i do wish the ship would not start sailing whilst the drill is happening as it spoils the sailaway.

I'd not seen this no but I do agree with it. We all know it's a pain, especially for passengers that have been through it many times before but it's still important, much like you wouldn't expect to board a flight without seeing a safety drill before you take off. People need to just accept that it's done for their safety, it doesn't take all that long. Just attend and then move on.
I agree with P&O doing this because it puts safety first and stops ignorance getting in the way.

I was in Santorini last year with Cunard and we used the ships tenders. I first visited Santorini in about 1995 on an old Airtours ship, Seawing. Then the cable car was free and the town was still a quaint Greek village with tavernas, cafes etc. Somewhere I still have a picture of a local selling flowers from his donkey that was laden with them. Now the cable car costs 5 Euro return per person and must make a fortune for the local municipality. The little shops and the towns quaintness have gone, replaced by tacky souvenir shops. When will tourist areas learn it is their originality people come to see not buy a souvenir made in China or similar.

How about having notices in holders on the dining tables saying 'No Photos Thank You'. That would stop people being interrupted whilst enjoying a meal.

I don't have a problem as such with onboard photographers, they serve a purpose more especially for first time cruisers on formal nights etc.
But like most have said it's when they become intrusive it becomes a problem and a real pain in the backside especially when dining, almost forcing people to have one taken whilst eating or when in conversation.
Although I'm quite a mild mannered individual, I must admit I'm quite blunt when refusing but it's the only way sometimes.

they do one  that includes entry to St Peters and the Sistine chapel you enter via the museum and actually pass most of the queues then you go through the chapel and onto then into the Basilica itself.
we did that the first time then next cruise did a walking tour which included the Colosseum and the forum we were then left some time to do our own thing and went and looked at a couple of the other site the pantheon and the tivili fountain made our way to the pick up point which was in the long street in front of St Peters

hope that may of been some slight help

No Thanks, we had one taken on a formal night on our first cruise, and thats it. always say no thanks when leaving the ship. dont need one with a lift belt in the frame.
one thing that I definately do not like is when they come on the prowl around the dining rooms you are having a nice conversation over a meal and them you get them asking if you want your photograph taken. Thats a huge No No with me

I think it needs a full revamp of the entertainment features on board. P&O need to go back to the drawing board here and wake up to what their competitors are offering. Whilst P&O are still pushing tribute acts such as Annie Lennox, Royal Caribbean and NCL are introducing different shows and new forms of entertainment every year, constantly looking for new ways to entertain their guests. If P&O want to compete with those lines, which based on the size and design of this new ship, they appear to be, then they need to up their game.

Smaller ship like Adonia and Aurora. Reading the list of things onboard the new ship just makes me think why waste money on a cruise when you could go to Butlins, because that to me is what it looks like.  As you can guess I like small. It allows ships to go to more places that the big ships can't reach.
