  1. I agree with you both. I think it all adds to the experience of cruising when itineraries change.
  2. as far as I have always known you don't have to pay the tips on board, however for the wonderful service we all get I always pay them and sometimes a bit more as well. but its down to our own choices.

  3. wish I could get on the cruise love them really disappointed I can't see them
  4. I have recently sailed on fred olsen, balmoral ship and found everything perfect, food, service and cleanliness tip top.  Travelled on Britannia last year and again could not fault anything. I have tried land holidays but get bored, love the ship live and visiting different places.  so I will definately carry on cruising.

  5. hello loz6, we sailed to spain and portugal, places I have been to before and enjoyed, again very easy straight off the ship to the shops and bars, it was nice and warm as well, not so hot its hard to move around but very pleasantly warm
  6. thank you waves for your reply, the ships are older but they are so nicely maintained, the carpets look so clean and fresh not one bit was to be found on them and the same for all the furnishings around the ship. What I did like is the actual wooden decks very nice. Balmoral also has a beautiful lounge where people can sit quietly and have a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate and buy individual chocalates to go with it. The pub also is very comfortable with an excellent keyboard player and singer. The shows excellent really good, including the crew show which all enjoyed. I agree with bo
  7. Recently cruised on the balmoral on the 27th sept had a fabulous time, the crew were amazing and lots of lovely passengers. Food great, good atmospher, great entertainment, really enjoyed. Anyone else out there had the same brilliant experience?
  8. Thinking of going on a caribbean cruise which calls at st. thomas, can anyone recommend places and beaches to visit?
  9. With the weather we have here I am surprised that mosquitos survive once the ship hits the uk anyway
  10. yes I like obstructed view cabins you can get a nice position at a much lower price.
  11. interesting subject, I was always travel sick, sick on a coach, car, train, ferry boats around the harbour you name it, but then I really wanted to cruise so much and knew I couldn't be ill for the duration. I wanted to cruise so much that I took the plunge and I have never been sick since. so for me I guess it was something in the head but I yes people do have problems with the balances in the ear which will also cause sea sickness.
  12. ooh I never knew that bolsover cruise club do saga, now I know I can book with them I am most interested in trying a cruise with saga
  13. hygeine does help but needs everyone to be as careful.
  14. went on her last year great ship wish I was cruising today with the marvellous weather
  15. yes booked to go to baltics and they do tours to the ballet in st petersberg, can't wait for that one
  16. very good news for the north another cruising opportunity but as previously noted its just a little too far for those in the southern regions
  17. alesund is a lovely port we tendered in last year and we booked a tour with p&o to see one of the old stave churches, really interesting with beautiful countryside as the coach took us up into the hills. very enjoyable. however I don't think there is really much to see in alesund itself. hope this helps.
  18. sindhu is a definitely must, need to pre book before you go as they sell out quickly
  19. I think those that moan have been many times with the same cruise operator and possible getting a little bored and really want to try something new but are too nervous to make the change. just a thought
  20. yes love the caribbean but the humidity is not good when you have curly frizzy hair that goes completely wild as soon as it hits the humidity. a large can of hair spray each night is required
  21. Pleased vicky won thought she was great with her trials
  22. ah i often go from southampton and yes my cases, yes my cases weigh just 20 kilos each, all 3 of them, can take as many cases as we wish so no problem.
  23. guess what I have booked, love the sunshine love the price well done p&o
  24. on my last cruise to norway (not int he eu of course) we did get duty free on board, 2 bottles of spirits for approx £25, bought cigs as well (for my sins) approx £46 for 200. also purfume was quite a bit cheaper than in the shops as I did price up my favourite perfume before taking the cruise. so yes it does depend on the cruise, many cruises now there are no duty free due to most places being in the eu. But I continue to take my cruises for the destinations first with thoughts of duty free taking a second place.
  25. loved brittania the entertainment was good especially the theatre shows, loved the crystal room, loved all the extra dining opportunities and really enjoyed the live lounge, looking forward to my next cruise on her. Oh and the cabins very nice indeed
