  1. We haven't sailed with P&O since disembarking Aurora in Auckland 5 years ago, almost to the day. What we perceived to be declining standards over the years from our very first taste on board Arcadia (was that really around 20 years ago?) and a preference for smaller ships, with more interesting itineraries, have steered us elsewhere. Arvia is unlikely to attract us back. I would never say "never" but most unlikely. DavidH
  2. Just another one that's too big for my liking. DavidH
  3. Hi Andrew, Hope you are well? From looking at the 2022 versions of the back to back cruises which we were booked on for November/December 2020, Azamara pricing had already gone through the roof before this move took place. Whilst a massive fan of the cruise experience they offer, the cabin sizes do not warrant the prices they are now asking. Sadly, I think we will be looking elsewhere when, eventually, I can persuade W to allow me to book another cruise. We have been re-booked by HAL for our twice cancelled Japan and Russia Cruise, now scheduled for April 2022. Interestingly,

    COVID vaccination

Hi 2torts, Seems a sensible move to me. Have to say, Saga's new ships look very tempting. DavidH
  5. Not sure if the Forum is still alive but thought I'd ask anyway. Has anybody picked up on the move by Azamara - leaving RCI and joining Sycamore Partners, a private equity firm based in New York? Received an email this afternoon. Hope it doesn't reduce the combined brownie points we've achieved with both Azamara and Celebrity. Anyone got any inside info??? DavidH ps Happy New Year.
  6. Best Wishes everyone. Fingers crossed for 2021. 🎄✨🛳️ DavidH
  7. Hi Andrew, Apologies for the delayed response. I've been unable to access the Forum website for the last few days for some reason. Don't know if anyone else has experienced the same "timed out" issue? As for the itinerary, I'm waiting until we get confirmation of the booking and our cabin allocation before considering whether or not to go ahead. I'll check the itinerary at that point - hopefully, during the course of the next week. Regards, DavidH
  8. Received an email from HAL in the early hours of this morning giving us an update on our planned cruise of Japan and Russia, scheduled for April 2021. Bear in mind that this trip was a already a re-booking of our cancelled April 2020 cruise. Referring to the recently released Framework for Conditional Sailing from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this is what they had to tell us:- "As we continue to prepare and develop our plans, we have made the decision to extend our pause in cruise operations for all departures through March 31, 2021, cruises of eigh
  9. Back in February, HAL cancelled our Japan and Russia cruise and promptly refunded all monies payed. With the help of both Bolsover (through whom the cruise was booked) and Trailfinders (flights and pre-cruise land tour package), we re-scheduled the trip for April 2021. Bolsover have just informed me that the date for the cruise balance payment has been deferred by one month to early February 2021. I guess by then HAL will be making a decision as to whether or not the cruise can go ahead, thus avoiding taking final payments which would need to be refunded. If it does go ahead, we cu
  10. At least last time we were locked down, we had good weather which allowed for great walks/bike rides in our wonderful countryside. All those tracks and fields are a much wetter. colder, windier proposition now. Dancing shoes back in the cupboard. Table tennis bat likewise. Might have to rig the bike back up to the static trainer!! Boring!!! But, still with hope. DavidH
  11. So now Azamara have cancelled all cruises until Spring 2021. Quest will re-start on March 20th with a Spain Intensive voyage. Journey on April 9th with an Iberia Intensive. Pursuit on May 9th with a Greece Intensive. Or will they?????????????? DavidH
  12. Hi Graden, As I have no desire to cruise on "The Leviathon Of The Seas", I would welcome the opportunity to sail from more Northerly ports on the smaller ships. But, to where????? DavidH
  13. But unfortunately not in my lifetime, I'm beginning to think!!
  14. Relieved to say that Azamara have indeed cancelled our back to back cruises scheduled for November 2020. In general, they have continued the suspension of their operations until the end of October but the unique Quest November itineraries have also been cancelled. Our options are:- 1. 125% Future Cruise Credit based on the amount paid. As this was only the deposit, it doesn't amount to much. 2. Lift and Shift. As this was a one off itinerary which is not in their schedule for next year, this option is useless. 3. 100% refund. We have until 31 December 2020 to
  15. No words, Jenjen. So sorry. Stay strong. DavidH
  16. I think I have mentioned before on this forum that, despite all our thoroughly enjoyable cruises over the years, our favourite form of holiday remains taking our touring caravan across to France. Only a few days ago, I was checking out the pricing of a journey through the Chunnel but, that is back off the agenda for now with the latest twist in the European tale. We have, however, just had our first weekend of the year with the 'van at a Caravan & Motorhome site, meeting up with my sister and her husband for the first time since Christmas. Next week we're heading North for a few day
  17. No cruises - no issues to discuss!! "Simples"!! DavidH
  18. We have invariably selected our cruises in the past based on ports of call. However, we have occasionally returned from a cruise feeling as though we need a holiday to recover from the all action, port a day, routine. More recently, we have gone for a balance of calls and sea days. As for the future.....................................? DavidH
  19. Hi OWT, Have you considered Warner Leisure Breaks. Not in Kent/Sussex but we enjoyed a few days at Sinah Warren Hotel on Hayling Island some years ago, From their website, it would seem Warners are opening up from 27 July. DavidH
  20. Hi Anchors-aweigh, My wife and I, together with a couple of friends, are due to embark Azamara Quest in mid November in Lisbon, visiting the Canaries and Cape Verde Islands before crossing The Atlantic for calls in Brazil, with Buenos Aires as the final stop. Being a US cruise line, I do not expect the cruise to go ahead and, right now, I would prefer that Azamara cancel the whole thing. Preferably, before we are due to pay the outstanding balance in mid-August. Much as we enjoy on board ship life, it's the ports of call that inform our cruise choices and, given the state of pl

    Cruise Refund

The Consumers Association has been majoring on this issue of refunds for several weeks now but to no avail. They make the legal position quite clear but it doesn't seem to matter one jot. I think the bottom line is we are not going to see refunds on cancelled trips until things ease enough for others to book and the travel companies start to get some cash flow back in. That's why so many are offering future credits - they just don't have the cash reserves. DavidH
  22. Hi towny44, As you've already been made aware, the answer is "none". DavidH
  23. After some internet research, a disappointing telephone conversation with a rather rude and very aggressive guy from Staysure and further discussion with current insurers, LV, we have gone with Saga for the next 12 months. Very surprised, as Saga were hugely expensive the last time I looked at them - mind you, that was in 2005!!!! As always, hoping we never have to claim on it. DavidH
  24. Have today received the renewal notice from LV for our Annual Travel Insurance policy which has a renewal date of 1 June. With no apparent change to the Premier cover level which we have and based on our current area of cover (we have worldwide excluding North and Central America, Caribbean and Bahamas) the premium quoted is almost 30% up on what we paid this time last year. As I referred to in an earlier post, with price comparison websites out of action for travel insurance, it makes a challenge to the price quoted somewhat difficult. DavidH
  25. Hi tekram (James), Very interesting. Wouldn't it be good to know, in current circumstances, whether or not you have developed an immunity as a result? Best not to try and find out!! DavidH
