Oh dear we have been hacked yet again

I telephoned this morning -the girl promised to alert the forum administrator.
  2. Hello.  Glad you are still hoping to get away on a couple of cruises next year,  let's keep fingers crossed that we can all be able to get back on board within the next few months.  Would send a personal message,  but I can't see the facility to do that anymore.

Good to hear from you. We have literally just stopped the first cruise [5th April -Aurora] as we saw little or no chance for the going ashore unescorted protocol. If we cannot do what we want then as far as we are concerned it's an expensive time just staying aboard at so many ports. We have the Sept cruise to the Baltic -and then we moved the Aurora option forward into 2022 for a cruise on the Arcadia. Jim.

    Cruising after the 'virus'

Indeed -and how do we know that it wasn't. It came from a very specific area in China- I'll leave it there.

    Cruising after the 'virus'

Whoever could have imagined that one person in China could have caused this chaos? We have 2 cruises booked for next year [Aurora -5th April. Regal Princess 5th September] but if there are only escorted tours on offer we may give up on them.

Hi Littlemousa - nice to hear from you! Hope you and yours are keeping well...Jim. 😊

    P&O -does 'goodwill' exist?

I would be OK with that -as long as we had the opportunity to cancel without some financial penalty.

    Cruising after the 'virus'

I just spotted this under latest cruise news----Some of the world’s largest cruise lines have pledged a joint commitment to testing all passengers and crew prior to embarkation, a travel industry first.

    P&O -does 'goodwill' exist?

As you will know from the earlier posts we are booked to cruise this April [fingers crossed] - I thought I would try to see if anyone looking in might also be on it -so I have posted a thread under Roll Call [the wife says I am an eternal optimist!]

    Cruising after the 'virus'

This is part of the protocol adopted by the CLIA:- Shore Excursions: Only permitted shore excursions according to the cruise operators’ prescribed protocols, with strict adherence required of all passengers and denial of re-boarding for any passengers that do not comply. The devil will be in the detail - I can foresee a lot of potential cruisers [like myself and wife] who will think hard about cruising where one could be only allowed ashore as part of chaperoned excursions.

    Cruising after the 'virus'

This is a link to a new type of test called DNA Nudge -it is carried out by taking a cheek swab and the result is known within an hour. It has been proved to have an accuracy of 95% and a specificity of 100% [as I understand it- this means a test of not having the virus] https://www.dnanudge.com/en/COVID-Nudge

    Cruising after the 'virus'

The Israelis have a test based on 'gargle and spit' which they claim will give a result within seconds -using a matchbox sized machine. In 400 people tested it had a 95% accuracy. If this proves to be the case it could be a huge leap forward in testing pre-cruise.

    Cruising with MSC Grandiosa

I say well done to the Captain- these people knew the consequences therefore I have no sympathy for them.

Venice to be a 'cruise-free' port-well for now.

Yesterday the small boat owners protested out on the lagoon about the loss of business.
  14. A large attack was made on parts of Carnival cruise lines over the weekend. The mere fact that P&O -and I believe Cunard are 'down' would suggest it may have involved them. I am waiting to see if I hear from P&O as I have 2 booked cruises for 2021. Further than this I have no more info......

Is the CDC trying to 'kill off' the cruise industry?

This from Cruise News.......... Carnival Corporation said in a regulatory filing on Friday that as of July 31, 2020, the company had $7.9 billion in cash and cash equivalent balance available. The nine-brand operation said earlier in July that during its pause in guest operations, the monthly average cash burn rate for the second half of 2020 is estimated to be approximately $650 million per month, which could give Carnival approximately 12 months of cash with ships out of operation
