The QM2 was the largest cruise ship in the world when it was launched in 2004. The ballroom is not up forward but is at the rear and it is quite large. Cunard claim it is the largest ballroom at sea and I have no reason to dispute this. Brian

You got he decimal point in the wrong place -£4,700. Or £4,738 at today's closing price. Brian

Leave your car at home and do a one way car rental which also saves on parking charges. Enterprise have a depot just outside gate 8, which is about 150 yards from City terminal. Brian -
The Amsterdam cruise terminal is right in the centre, about a 10-15 min walk to the main railway station. Brian

Credit Card charges to be abolished
BrianI replied to sinbad10's topic in General Cruise Chat & Advice
That is correct for P&O, Cunard and Princess who charge 1.5%. However, I booked a cruise last year through Bolsover with Celebrity on a credit card and there was no charge as Celebrity do not charge. Brian -
Credit Card charges to be abolished

From the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40648641 So for a bill of £3000 will cost the TA £18 with a credit card or 10p with a debit card. It's not difficult to see why they do not like accepting credit cards. Brian -
First family Cruise Booked, ANY ADVICE :)

Don't worry about the night nursery. They give you a pager so they can contact you if your child does not settle. Or you can pop your head round the door from time to time to see they are ok. Brian -

Registering Cruise Card against Credit Card
BrianI replied to Ikea Logistics's topic in General Cruise Chat & Advice
Normally you register your credit card when you check in or with some cruise lines on line before your leave home. I am surprised they let you run up a debt without a card or a cash deposit. Most hotels operate the same way. Brian -

You can't change it yourself. You need to contact Admin. You can get them by clicking on "staff" on the top blue bar. Brian

Tips are actually per night. For example, a 14 night cruise is 15 days but you only pay 14 lots of tips. Brian

Whilst most world cruises tend to be westbound, there are some eastbound ones. We did one two years ago from San Francisco to Southampton on Aurora. The ship had come from Australia. Brian

The gratuities are apparently going up to £6 per person per day from April. Brian

You can get foreign currency at reception which is just added onto your account but the rates are not good. You can also draw sterling cash for which there is no charge. The best way to get local currency is to use your debit card in a local ATM. There are lots around these days. Brian

All P&O ships have UK electrical sockets. P&O have self service washers and driers which are free to use but you have to provide your own detergent. Either take your own or buy from the on board shop. There is also a chargeable laundry service. Pool/beach towels (blue or blue/white) are provided in your cabin, usually stored under the wash basin. These are in addition to your normal cabin white towels. The ships time will be changed to local time. You will be advised when this happens. Brian

Brexit vote ‘will add a fifth’ to family holiday costs
BrianI replied to sammy sun's topic in General Cruise Chat & Advice
Oil is priced in dollars so it's the same price in dollars the world over. There will be small local variations depending how far the port is from the refinery. Hence in sterling terms oil is more expensive, even in Southampton. Brian -
Normally cabin numbers are allocated two weeks prior to departure. Keep checking your cruise personaliser. Brian

Luggage Allowance For Caribbean Fly Cruises
BrianI replied to rhosgordo's topic in Airports / Flights
It's actually 23+5kg. See P&O website https://ask.pocruises.com/help/PO/flights/baggage_allowance The allowance for charters is dictated by P&O so it's the same for any airline. Maybe different if you are on a scheduled flight. Brian
