i think theres a bit of difference when the job entails working with numbers HLM my brother in law just sees garbage when he looks at a column or row of numbers but he is one awesome car mechanic, has even worked with some major names including morgan but his wife has to do his invoices and books. i would have thought working in a retail environment ought to require basic numeracy.

I can still add a column of figures up quicker in my head than by using a calculator.

mitch got a reaction from *Dancing Queen* in Packing why is it so stressful
the wife died in 2003, she always left everything in piles for me to pack as i was so much better at getting the most into a suitcase. especially around all those bloomin shoes lol.
now its just a pair of pool shoes a pair of trainers and a pair of dress shoes. so much easier lol. mind i would give anything to have to be messing with 12 pairs of shoes again next month.

This thread is now getting boring and very repetitive whatever the reasons are in the past P&O have made a company decision and whether they increase prices of fares/drinks to cover costs or if staff get a decent wage is between them and nobody else. If we dont like it or feel cruise prices have increased then everybody has the choice to go elsewhere. My concern has always been that my auto grats was given for the staff and nobody else and worried that P&O were siphoning off a percentage for their own needs. Now I know that auto gratuities are included in fare and if I like the price I will book and if not I will look elsewhere. Staff wages is the concern of the company and their staff and if they dont like it like anyone else they can look elsewhere for better paid jobs.

mitch got a reaction from Davybe in travel insurance - search, search and search again
tried the broker we use business wise but travel insurance isnt someting they do. i did think about it about half way through and will probably give it a better go next year if the quotes are as silly. as it is rediculous some of the prices and i am actually covered reading the policy stuff for things i will never use. ive made sure the correct stuff is there for a cruise but essentially its an add on the policy still includes things for flight delay etc when i cant fly. but i suppose a tailor made policy would be more expensive purely as its bespoke.
its just very frustrating and time consuming, i just wanted to make the point that if you have medical conditions in the end it is worth the effort to double double check as its annoying that the company ive gone with were more expensive on their own website than they were on a large search site. and they even change from day to day i used one site on saturday and a completely different set of prices for the same companies came up on sunday. ive been meticulous in making sure the same answers were given in each site so i cant explain how something like moneysupermarket can give one set of quotes on a saturday and a different set of prices for the same thing on sunday.
i appreciate some are not as computer literate as me or others and many must be paying over the odds because of that, i hope they have someone that can assist by using the tech to get a better deal,it just takes a lot of patience.

Hi Ricky the first time we did Rome we saw it all but actually saw nothing if that makes sense, the second time we realised we needed to choose 2/3 venues and concentrate on those ( I would add we did this on our own as we were fit and able to )  the third time we did the same tbh and this is only my opinion highlight what you really want to see and do and choose whichever tour offers the best options to match your criteria, if you merely want to see the 'highlights of Rome' without actually visiting any of them then probably Panoramic Rome would suit, whatever you decide it is a wonderful city and one visit just isn't enough and you will want to return.
    Enjoy.

i would say talk to bolsover, you dont have to book anything they will advise you well. some cruises booked so far in advance have reduced deposit requirements some have extra obc. at times bolsover have cash bonuses to reduce the cost. i think they have one for the bank holiday. they will definately book any deal on the p&o website. ive never had a problem just asking their advice.

i have to take it as i am self employed but it only gets turned on in port and only briefley to see if there are any texts. i take my laptop and have to put up with the wifi fees as i still need to keep up with work and need to send 2 or 3 emails a day. but it usually only takes an hour or so. i changed to payg from contract last year and in  that year ive only topped up £30 whereas when on contract it was £30 per month. i have a blackberry passport as it as proper keys etc and i dont need to change it every time a new thing comes out so it suits me. i dont use the phone to conect to the internet so that keeps costs down.
i even did away with a landline at home and i use an internet dongle that gives me 30gb a month for £20 which i have only once exceeded. ive saved a load in the last year or so.

Completely agree with you OWT Prices will rise although I did read in one report that A spokeswoman said, '' the set price of its cruises would not increase as a result of the change'', but added: "As with all holidays, prices can be affected by market demand.",
However due to the fluid pricing we will never know. Possibly less Saver and Early saver fares offered  together with perhaps a reduction of obc being offered. But in my opnion the whole concept of including in the price is about time and fair to all.

in a sense people wont really notice the increase in fares if thats what they do as its so far in advance a lot of fares arent out yet. as the itineries arent identical year on year it wont be that obvious a £77 increase on a 11 night cruise. those that have booked yonks in advance will be the only beneficiaries really. says he having booked a 28 nighter in oct 2019. ha ha oh joy reduces the impact of a 60% single supp.

how???? its not that easy in my opinion to just fall off a cruise ship ive never seen anywhere on any ship ive been on that there arent 3-4 foot railing to negotiate even on balconies.
so she must have been doing something stupid or it was deliberate. as ever with these things i bet theres more to it.
