I’ve been saying for years that single cabins are not cost effective and you nearly always get a better deal paying a supplement for a double.

I don’t think it’s a case that we don’t care. Of course tips should be paid unless the stewards and waiters etc are diabolical, in which case they should be reported. It’s more of the case that whenever a tipping thread starts it goes round and round in circles covering the same ground as before and it does get a little tedious.
    sorry....

No need for a 'Hard Hat' PP. What you say makes sense. You are also correct about not all people in wheel chairs and and those using walking aids being senior citizens, my 14 rear old granddaughter uses a wheel chair at times. However I think you would agree that in the majority of cases it is the senior citizens who require these aids especially on board cruise ships, or at least that is my experience of Cunard and P&O. Happy Easter PP and to all forum members.

At the end of the day this is a forum. Unless posters have met on cruises we don’t know who each other are and subsequently we don’t know which cruise line individuals have cruised with. Anyone can say that they have cruised with this line or that. There is no proof. I, therefore , think that we shouldn’t end up criticising others views or beliefs on topics. In relation to dress codes until such time as an itinerary stipulating the codes for a specific cruise is released and what those codes are then the conversations are hypothetical. Age demographics also changes with each cruise no matter which ship you are on and you will always get a younger demographic during school holidays.
Also being in a wheelchair or having to use an aid to walk doesn’t always relate to the elderly.
i shall now put my hard hat on ready for the firing line that I am bound to get.
    happy Easter

I had not intended replying to any more of your posts however it is quite obvious you have some sort of problem with me as you continually aim to disagree with anything I post which of course is your prerogative and I certainly don’t expect anyone to agree with me but the nitpicking is quite unnecessary, you now seem to think it is ok to appoint yourself as the ‘forum police’ and demand people ( ie: ‘me’ ) provide proof of what initially was a perfectly pleasant reply to your own post about the age demographics on Cunard v P&O .. at the risk of being chastised for repeating myself again this is what I actually said: Quote: HLM I'm pleased you used the words 'Cunard in general SEEM to attract the older more traditional type cruiser ' I can assure you nothing could be further from the truth and the age demographics are pretty much the same as P&O .. children to pensioners and the majority seem to enjoy the tradition, perhaps in years to come tradition will be phased out but as Mitch says there is still a market for it and it's 'our generation' who have the disposable income at the moment.   Now you are perfectly entitled to form your own opinion about anything I post what you are not entitled to do is basically call me a liar, granted I used the word ‘qualified by experience’ but aren’t most forum posts from ‘experience’ which qualifies the poster to make them ?? I may have quoted you but it was also information for other members reading the forum who might be considering sailing with Cunard in the future and comments like yours just might put them off, I also said Cunard isn’t as formal as some like to make out ..  again said from experience, do I need to prove that too !!!   As far as I’m concerned I was not unpleasant to you in any way and I just offered as advice something which might assist other members, you seem to think it is ok for you to post what you read on other forums whilst never having stepped on a Cunard ship and yet I who have years of Cunard experience and see what I see with my own eyes in your opinion is questionable, perhaps you could explain to me why I would want to mislead anyone.   I will now leave this thread but please be assured I will continue to offer the benefit of my experience to others perhaps you might like to do the same after all you’ve probably been on ships others haven’t and like most things ‘experience’ will tell us what the brochures don’t.   If I could just finally say I think your posts are made to bait me and whatever your intentions are it won’t work, this forum is no place for past vendetta’s ( yes I do know who you are ) and it’s membership do not come on here to witness ‘spats’ so in future I will not respond to any of your baiting but rest assured I will be requesting Bolsover admin remove any offending content directed at me should you wish to continue with it.

If need be you can have a word with the head waiter and they will give you the menu the night before so you can see what the options are.

If you have the right loyalty level you get on early anyway. You can still only get there as early as traffic allows... can’t see the point really.

Does it really matter what other people do. I can’t see why people have to be in such a rush when on holiday. It’s not like anything is going anywhere on a ship.

I believe dress codes are part of cruising. You don’t want to be sitting next to someone in a sweaty tee shirt or worse at dinner. Although I do think that they have to get the balance right. It used to be 4 or 5 formals on a 2 week cruise anymore would be too much. Casual in my view doesn’t mean jeans but at least decent trousers and shirt etc.
To a degree they should be enforced

Welcome. Also take a copy of the prescription as proof. Some countries can be very awkward when it comes to medication.

Just because a cruise has changed to that with a theme, being strictly or whatever doesn’t mean you have to participate. I would be more upset if the ports changed and they hadn’t bothered to say anything.

I still don’t think that we should be paying a wage subsidy. It is a gratuity for good service and if staff do not provide it then the discretion is there Either not to give more or reduce them if necessary. We pay huge fares to cruise and wages should be incorporated in that fare, they should not expect passengers to subsidise them if they do not come up to expectations.

If service is getting as bad as some folk make out then there’s sufficient reason to remove tips. However I still maintain that a tip is for good service and not a service charge which this seems to be. It used to be a suggested amount now it’s a few hundred pounds added to your account before you even get on board.
