Last year's BBC series Blue Planet II heralded a change in attitude amongst many on the impact of plastic on marine life, with footage showing animals injured or killed by plastic in the ocean. The UK Government said it is considering a ban on plastic straws and other items, such as plastic drink stirrers and cotton buds. I hope the cruise lines are going to make significant changes on board for example an estimated 8.5 billion plastic straws are thrown away each year and they play a part in this. Thoughts on how else they can contribute to make a change? Presenter David Attenboroug

Each to their own I suppose. I really do appreciate that many will find this great but as a self-confessed luddite, I would find it off-putting. I have no desire to talk to an inanimate object and certainly don't want one organising my life thank you. I'll crawl back into my cave now (yes, I am a troglodyte too) .

When we were children we only had paper straws. They were ok except if you chewed them they got a bit soggy & you couldn't get anything through them! Except for in bottles of pop for children we don't really need to use straws do we even paper ones? Hard plastic 'glasses' for safety round the pools etc are reusable so no need for flimsy plastic throwaway ones on board.

I must admit I love traditional cruising, all about the wine and dine. We did sail on Harmony of the seas 2 years ago and really enjoyed it but I did think the 'extras' on board like the slide at the back and the carousel were a one time deal. Once we had done we had done it! I think the entertainment on board is spectacular and I don't use that word often! so different to the usual stage shows on all other cruise lines, so in that respect I would say bigger is better! I completely understand the attraction for people with children, personally I wouldn't go again . . . . I was too knacke

Cancellation charges will always be a sore point especially with the America Lines as we have different booking conditions to other regions. I don’t think anyone would book a holiday just to cancel it, so if they are in that position must be for a reason and that when the charges hit the most. For me this just re-enforces the need to have adequate travel insurance in place from the time of booking. Yes, I do think other lines will follow suit.
